Chad is probably the worst in the league against top defenses. He's one of the best against bad defenses, and he is good against good defenses. That averages out to him being maybe around the top third or top fourth of NFL QBs overall. So overall, 3/4s of the league is worse than him. However, some people, like me, weigh play against top defenses much higher than play against bad competition, because honestly, most QBs in the NFL are capable of beating the bad defenses, and it doesn't really matter how much you win by. So in my eyes Chad really drops a lot, because if you give me the choice of QBs in one game that I have to win against a top team, I really can't possibly take Pennington over anyone except maybe a small handful of players. Basically, Chad can get you to respectability, but he can't get further than that. He is the Tony Dungy of NFL QBs.

Eli Manning is among the absolute worst QBs in the league. Pennington is a far better QB than Eli.

Give Chad a consistantly dangerous running back like LT, or LJ, and I truly believe that he would rank top 5 in most catagories. Leon has been a great surprise, but I'm talking elite.

^^ Both wrong, there is no way these guys are better then chad, watch the games.

shEli is also no where near as good as chad, i dont care about his expectations. he has been in the league and has been a starter for quite some time and he gets progressively worse! and he has absolutly no leadership skills ATALL. he couldnt wipe chads a**

I think the way you look at it is who would you trade Chad for STRAIGHT UP (salary cap notwithstanding.)

    YES:
    Brees
    Manning
    Brady
    Palmer (Im not convinced though)
    Rivers
Vince Young (If you are the GM and they say straight up, youd do it)
Leinart/Cutler (you dont know what theyll be but youd do it anyway)

    No:
Eli Manning (Have you watched the games?)
    Frye
    Johnson
    Huard
    Bulger
    Losman
Garcia (you are kidding right. Hes had a few good games as a backup -- now the previous years are ancient history?)
    Delhomme
    Favre
    Romo
    Carr
    Walters
    Leftwich/Gerrard
    Campbell
    Simms
    Kitna
    Alex Smith
    Vick (sorry, no).
    Harrington/Culpepper
Rothbrg (Won the superbowl going 10-14, 145)
    Grossman

    Im not sure:
    Hasselback
McNabb (better than Chad but injuries)
McNair (better than Chad but he is ALWAYS hurt)
    Green

THERE ARE EIGHT QBs ID TAKE OVER CHAD. FOUR ID THINK ABOUT. TWENTY THREE ID SAY NO THANK YOU.

WE HAVE THE NINTH to THIRTEENTH BEST -- THATS GOOD ENOUGH.

I'd say Chad is in the top 6 or 7 QB's when he's making his throws. When he isn't he's around 16-18. All in all with his intelligence and decision making and leadership, I'd put him around 10-11.

Better....Brady, Palmer. Everyone else is debatable.

Manning??? Not on your life. Peyton Manning is like Marty Schottenheimer. 10-12 wins a year, on the couch in January.

    Matt Hasselbeck???? No.

    Brees...No.

    Bulger, No.

No. Probably in 2 years time, but right now they dont have the body of work.

Look at Roethlisberger. Looked like lights out year one, but ahs come way back down to earth.

(P.S. get a grip on Donovan McNabb. ever notice how the Beagles generally play as good if not better when he is out....That more Andy Reid, than DMcDrabb...)

    Brady. Palmer.

Rivers does not have the body of work to support it .....yet.

And Bulger and Manning would be, if we played on turf and in a dome.
    But we dont.

And I dont know what you call SIGNIFICANTLY, but JP Blosmen's Quarterback rating is 5 points ahead of Pennington....over their respective body of work to date, Losman is not anywhere NEAR Penningtons category as a Quarterback, in any sense of the word, except Physical attributes.

Brees???? Are you kidding me ????? he has led two TALENTED teams to moderate results, (Getting Beat twice IIRC in big games by....Chad Pennington...)

If you credit Roethlisberger for the 15-1 season, than you have to credit Chad for the playoff run where he ended the season by losing in Pittsburgh,
on two missed field goals and Herms questionable kneel. as well as beating the crap out of the Packers, and Colts in that playoff run...

McNabb, gets too much credit for Andy Reids coaching. (AJ Feely, Jeff Garcia,

What this season, in Minnesota, and in Miami ? I thought he played well enough in both games...both pretty good defenses, and Minnesota is the penetrating type of D that has given him fits in the past (Pittsburgh, Oakland...)

Minnesota has one of the worst pass defenses in the league. Miami has no offense.

Put Chad in a game against a good pass defense where the other team scores early on and he starts sweating and the Jets lose.

Thankfully the Raiders have the great pass defense but no offense at all so the odds favor the Jets to win by double-digits.

You have to be kidding me.... have you seen Eli play this year? He has thrown 23 TDs, yeah, but 18 INTs to go with it, and hasn't even completed 60%of his passes...............

Hasselbeck/Delhome/Favre are debateable......... Vince will be better but still debateable now....

Losman.... just no........ and Romo is coming back to earth......

My point was: The GM calls you and says -- Chad for ____ whoever, straight up, right now.

Your are right Cutler, VY, Leinart dont have the body of work. Youd do it anyway.

Favre does have the body of work -- and you would NOT make that trade.

This is key. They were sliding before they got the Cardinals, now they finish at home vs SF.

Take Bulger Out Of His Dome And Put Him On The Jets

    & they win 3 games.

Same goes for Delohmme and Hassleback.

Chad has carried this team without a running game.

    Yes, Vick Is Shit

of course hes not one of the worst, hes just a notch above the worst.

it has nothing to do with the system he is in. hes got a cannon on his shoulder, and just like a cannon, youre not entirely sure where the ball is gonna land. hes inaccurate. very inaccurate.

his passer ratings since hes gotten into the nfl are as follows:

    2001 : 62.7
    2002 : 81.6
    2003 : 69
    2004 : 78.1
    2005 : 73.1

    15 games into 2006 : 74.9
    career passer rating is 75.6
the highest completion % in a season was 56%. for his career its 53%.

just for the sake of arguement, his 2 worst years for qb rating he didnt play the entire seasons, he played 8 and 5 games respectively. even taking those 2 out of the equation, his rating over his 4 full seasons is a meager 76.9.

he has a better rushing yds avg than he does yds per completion. (rush avg 7.3, yds per completion 6.7)

vick is the most overrated qb in football. the fact that atlanta gave him that insane 100 mil contract is laughable. the guy is not a good qb. hes an exceptional athlete, but as far as quarterbacks go, hes in the bottom 1/3.

apparently since you needed to point out that he lines up under center, you missed the sarcasm in my post.

Only ones that are definite in my mind:

    Peyton
    Brady
    Carson
    McNabb
    Brees
    Favre
    Hasselback

Everyone else I feel is debatable. I always said when Chad is healthy he is a top ten qb in this league. He has almost a 600 winning pct in this league. That is pretty good.
