Well, I say yes. And this could be one of the reasons Meyer has gotten back into coaching, besides money. Meyer would obviously know everything about Fields. What would it take to trade up one spot if the Jets were interested? Not sure if this is in Douglas's DNA though.
I think so, still a long shot, but If Meyer hired OSU current OC, they might really want to go with Fields! If they like his upside. Not sure why so many don’t think so. Arizona did it, brought in their QB. Even they had Rosen. Not everyone had QB going to Arizona with 1st pick in Jan that year. Bosa was the unanimous 1st pick in mocks. Time will tell. So I looked at a draft value chart (for an approximate value )and its about the 50th pick, a mid second rounder.
The only reason he left retirement for the Jaguars was because they have the #1 pick and Lawrence is there to take. If neither of those things were present, he wouldn't be coaching the Jags.
No. Absolutely not. 0% chance. Meyer loves Lawrence. He has said he is the best college QB ever. He probably wouldn't have even taken the Jaguars job if they didn't have the #1 overall pick.
I predict it's going to go as well as Saban coaching the Dolphins.... then his "heart condition" may return
Given the fact that Meyer has openly gushed over Lawrence for like a year now I’d say the chances are not good, not good at all. Really have no idea why Jets fans seem to think this helps the cause. It basically closes the door with cinderblocks.
I know it is a long shot, but boy it would be great feeling come April if JAX takes fields or trades down... all these folks are so 100% sure Lawrence is it. There is the combine, pro days, Reese’s senior bowl. potential for injury, etc. Meyer took job for $$$ and career, not Lawrence. He would have taken if Fields was # 1...
