This thread hasn't even come close to "out of control" my dear WB.

I didn't say this thread was out of control. If that's your interpertation of my post, I didn't communicate it properly.

Just to clarify, I didn't say he played a great game. I just pointed out that Taylor did not get the 3 sacks and game changing plays that many were predicting. Ferguson held his own.

That's a quote from someone who really didn't bother watching the game carefully. I guess it's ok to point out that Pennington should have had that pass picked off on the TD drive, but we should rule out the 3-4 times that Lemon should/could have been picked off. Rhodes had one heading right at him until Poteat got in the way. Then there was the pass in the flat in the 4th quarter where the ball was floated and Rhodes, had he played the ball rather than the man, had a TD. Or the pass that Rhodes deflected in the 3rd quarter on a blitz and Hobson never realized it and would have had a pick and a TD also. And on Lemon's TD pass, you could easily say that McMichael made the play, breaking Rhodes' tackle. But with you, the opposing QB gets all the credit and Pennington none every week, no matter the circumstances. To say that Lemon outplayed Pennington shows your true colors.

Analysts that haven't watche dthe Jets play at all, they hear the knocks on Chad and they talk about it w/o watching him play. Chad doesn't have a Favre arm but he can make all the throws and he does throw it downfield. They made it seem like he can't physixcally throw it past 10 yards. That TD to Cotchery was an amazing throw, he was being hit as he threw it and threw it perfectly btw 3 defenders. A QB w/ the armn strength Chad supposedly has could nevere meake that throw.

He can make all the throws against bad defenses. What were easy completions against the Packers and the Vikings are either broken up by the Dolphins secondary or the receiver is walloped as soon as he puts his hands on the ball. The classic "deep ball" actually has alot more margin for error then the mid range passes, especially when you've been running everything short all game then go deep all of a sudden.

The few times Pennington went mid range down the middle there was a defender or multiple defenders waiting for the ball to get there, and this is his bread and butter against the weak defenses. His arm isn't strong enough to deliver the ball in a timely manner against quicker ones.

I think all objective Jet fans would say, CPs a nice, team oriented guy, BUT we won inspite of Chad Monday night, not because of Chad. And that is not intended to take away from a GREAT Jet victory, but he WILL NEVER get us to the promised land against an elite defense.

another absolutist. that is an absurd comment to make, your opinion or not. What happens if he not only leads us to the promise land this season but he also wins the game and the SB MVP? Do you just say, "hey, I was wrong, but we are SB champions, YEAH!!"?

I would think we've all lived long enough and seen enough NFL football to realize that there is no sure thing in football. Until someone better comes along, my money is on Chad to not only get us to the SB, but to win it in a land slide.

It seems to me that teams lose their "elite" status after the Jets beat them. The Pats were elite early in the year, but not when the Jets beat them late this year. The excuse - the wet weather hurt the Pats defense. The Vikings were being talked up the week before the Jet game as an elite defense, not just for their run defense, but for their QB rating against of 70, but after getting picked apart by the Jets, they became a bunch of bums. The Dolphins were considered a tough high performing defense the last few weeks, especially after dismantling Brady's boys two weeks ago. Now - the rain is not permitted as an excuse for the Jets offense and the only reason for the Jets' 4th quarter success is Taylor's eye and a dropped interception. Someone please define elite for me? And don't use it terms of teams the Jets have lost to over the years (I'm sick of the 2004 Pittsburgh and New England arguments and the BS 2002 Oakland playoff argument).

A driving rainstorm had nothing to do w/ it:rolleyes: Theguy is 6-1 against Miami w/ 9 TDs and 1 INT. he must be doing something right.

It's the 2006 version of the anti-Herm threads. In the past it was Herm cost us the game when we lost but the players were great when we won and this year it's D's are great going into games and Chad won't be able to do anything then when he does those teams and D's lose their status.

Who was calling the Vikings defense elite against the pass? Teams pass on them almost every down so they have a high raw INT number for the year. They also play a bunch of anemic NFC offenses, the only teams ranked higher then 18th in scoring this year are the Bears and the Pats, who scored 19, 31 and 23 against them. I recall some chirps about defensive passer rating, which I disputed at the time.

The Dolphins D is elite, and they played like it Sunday. Of course their weakness of not being able to get INTs on defense came back to bite them in the ass as the dropped INT on the Jets one drive of the game cost them big time.

So can I have a list of this year's elite defensive teams so I know whether the Jets have no chance against these teams should the Jets win Sunday and face any of these teams in the playoffs? I'll also know to bet heavily on these teams and on the under if they play the Jets.

Of the AFC playoff teams? Baltimore and the Patriots. Looking at the stats SD is elite against the pass but they've given up alot of points this year. If the Jags somehow snuck in they would also be on the list.

Only this pathetic fanbase could have these types of arguments after a win like that. It is a shame because this version of the Jets deserves much better.

    Same old Jet fans.

    Let me help you out.

There are two types of negativity. There is the: "We can never win with Pennington, Woody, Nugent, add player/coach/owner here" type. The poster who are like this are never deterred by wins or good performances. They seem to enjoy losing.

The second type is like my negativity. This is the type of negativity that causes posters here to have names like "The Fake Spike" and "The Blair Thomas Fumble" (an event btw that may have been right around your first or second birthday.) I am sure there will be more posters with an historical bent that adopt monikers like "The Bill Simpson Int" or the "Mark Gastineau Roughing the Passer Penalty on Fourth Down When We Had the Playoff Game Won." This type of negativity (shared by people like Joe Benigno) is that we are alway one play away from absolute disaster. Monday nights game was a 64 yard screen pass away from becoming the "Brad Kassel Punt Game." This negativity means that I go nuts reading that we have already beaten the Raiders and "cant lose." Ive already listed a decades worth of games that we could not lose and did.

While I to was exhalting the win over Mia I also think it is wrong for you or any NYJ fan to rap another one for there views. As I already posted it is clearly obvious at least to me the weaknesses CP brings to the field. IMHO there is nothing wrong in discussing what us fans see at perceived weaknesses in the team with the hope the CS also sees them & will make us upgrades to make us better. That is what successful FB teams do & that is exactly what Man & Tan should be doing even when the season is on going. As a fan I would be extremeley disappointing if M & T are not already discussing what is required to make us a super elite team. IMHO in CP case there are just certain passes he CANNOT make. That is fact. It is up to the CS to determine if they can get around those weaknesses with better game planning or do they have to do the unthinkable to some posters here which is UPGRADE the position. I am sure Woody expects NOTHING less then what I posted from M & T

Yes to JoeJet, Chad will lead us to the " promised land " I have been saying it all season. He is a class guy. The game was played in horrible conditions. Both QB,s could not grip the ball in the first half, so what, we won the game. It was not the same old Jets, We did not fold when we got the lousy punt break, We are gonna kick ass next week, Start praising the guy that got us this far in 2006. Does anybody really think our other QB,s would have brought us this far? Man, how perfect must he play before the darksiders stop ripping him apart? Allentown Ernie.
