If it's two 1's and two 2's we still have a normal draft load over the next two years including 15 picks and an elite quarterback for the first time ever. I'm not in the market of saying we should trade five 1's for him but I think that tops would be reasonable.
I heard it from a couple of my friends who are bit OSU fans. OSU seems to be approaching the minimum amount of players required to play.
How would we still have 7 picks? If we have to trade both first round picks and our 2nd, that would leave us with 6 picks, and the first pick wouldn't be until the 3rd round. That's if they accepted that. I would expect that the Niners and Dolphins would easily outbid us. The only thing we might have in our favor would be the #2 pick (although Miami has the #3) and Darnold. As for where did they say that? See post #113 in this thread.
The Jets should be saving their pennies to pay Quinnen not yet again another teams player. IMO that's who the Texans will ask for not Darnold.
Randall Cobb has eclipsed 800 yards receiving once in the past five years and is on his third team in three years. I'd hardly tout him as any sort of legitimate support. David Johnson being slightly better doesn't necessarily make him good. The Jets had a much better rushing offense than the Texans and that's without the aid of a running QB that bolsters those numbers.
Look at what you just quoted. I heard the news about the Championship game on the Dan Patrick show. The news about Watson's cost is in post #113 in this thread. Did you not read the thread?
Sure, Houston had a better 2020 than the Jets, but wouldn't it be an easier sell to Watson that moving forward, the Jets have a better chance at success in 2021 and 2022 than where he is at? (l am however ignoring the better looking Miami situation of course!) What's Houston got, JJ Watt on the back 9 of career? Brandon Cooks who's been traded from almost half the league and is one concussion away from retirement? Not sure Texans cap situation for 2021, but the Jets have the $$$ and picks to build around him better than Houston me thinks. Also, Isn't he upset that Texans brass didn't even request an interview with Eric Bieniemy? Douglas can make a huge statement in the eyes of Watson by hiring Bieniemy.
No, we wouldn't. We wouldn't have a 2nd pick in either draft. That's not a normal load. Besides, I don't think that price even begins to get it done from either the Texan's perspective or Watson's, and I don't think that JD would pay that price.
Johnson wasn't slightly better he was much better. He had 8 total TDs compared to Gore's 2 total TDs in three less games. Averaged 4.7 YPC to Gore's 3.5 YPC. Averaged 3 receptions per game to Gore's 1. I wouldn't say it was even close. But again, I'm not saying any of this makes Watson worse of a QB. I'm saying he can only do so much and the situation here is not better than it was there. It's worse.
He also only played twelve games and they had a worse rushing attack than we did. Regardless of the fact that he's obviously better than Gore (I agree with you on that). The overall cast isn't much different. And the Texans future outlook is a disaster compared to ours, even if we traded away a bunch of picks for him. They have $38 million tied into three linebackers (none of which who can be cut til 2022) with the leagues worst run defense. They also have an additional $40 million tied up into three offensive lineman - that same line that allowed the second most sacks in the league. And trash at receiver considering Cooks is always banged up and a concussion away from being done and Fuller will walk. The Jets could trade away 3-4 picks and still be in a much more marketable situation for him than in Houston. Regardless - I don't think this is a Joe Douglas move though.
A better question would have been - Did Dan Patrick say where info came from? My apologies. Dude is just spreading false info all over the place. That would be the biggest news in sports if 20 OSU players had COVID and they were asking to postpone the game. Lindor wouldn't be the talk of the town... Ben Albright is an absolute clown. I saw that yesterday and completely ignored it because of who it came from.
Patrick said that it may not be true, but that he heard it from two different sources. The way he said it, it sounded like at least one of the sources had to be within the NCAA Tournament Committee, as they would be the only ones who could know that.
Of course, that is what they want because it is an amount of picks that gets there draft program back on track after the idiot HC traded everything away but there is nobody out there that will give them that, which is, of course, the other thing they want to happen.
I disagree. I think both the Niners and the Dolphins would do it in a NY minute. The Niners already have a great team. The Dolphins have picks to burn. They could do it and still have picks left to fix their OL. They'd probably be considered the best team in our division or at least on equal footing with the Bills.
Caserio is probably seeing all the talk of trading Watson and laughing his ass off. Why in the world would he take that job and then turn around and trade the only attractive part of that team and immediately become the most hated man In Houston? The answer is he won’t and he will build around Watson as best as he can. Watson can be upset all he wants but he signed the contract that included 110mil in guarantees, he can cry himself to sleep in 100 dollar bills. This is such a fairyland thread. Watson would still count for 60mil against Houston’s cap if he wasn’t on the team. How in the world does it even make a little sense to trade Watson?
I guess we will have to wait and see then, it is a lot of picks and cap to give whilst remaining competitive moving forward imo Miami have a lot of picks but they still need huge improvement all over the squad.
Most likely, you're totally correct. That could change, however, if Watson signed the contract extension based on having a say in the new GM and HC. I don't know the timing of the extension or if Watson got that in writing, but if signing the extension was based on his having a say in the new GM and HC and he has it writing, he could sue and it's possible a judge would void the contract.
