Watson is a 25 year old top 5 QB with a very reasonable contract for the next 5 years.
    10.5 million in 21
    35 million in 22
    37 million in 23
    32 million in 24
    32 million in 25
That's 29.3 million per year average , look at recent QB contracts and how quickly they rise yearly.
    Jamal Adam's brought 2 1's , a 3 and Bradley McDougald.
A box safety expecting a massive extension after 1 year vs a young top 5 QB locked into a very team friendly contract for 5 years .
It would take both of this years first round picks, our own second and next years first at the very minimum , and that probably not even close.
If Watson does force a trade, the bidding war will be unprecedented.

Easy trade. We have the most ammo to deliver and tons of cap space + picks so we can build around Watson. We'd easily be the favorites in the division.

If we had Robbie Anderson, at 10 million per. Watson would be a great option, with Mims and crowderJD screwed up . Who do you sign for that money this yr and replace Andersons numbers this last yr? NoOne. We got Becton at 11 as a rookie he is a very good player, could be great or a player graded out as what you would want with the 11 th pick, Mims caught 22 passes for like 350 yds and no tds, The rest of the draft is questionable at best. JD screwed us again by not locking up key players or drafting talent. This is yr 3 of him trying to find o-line talent, most of it is the talent he has let co

Not having Robby really hurt the Jets. That was a simple contract to be had and would have been a stud to pair with Watson.

And anyone saying NO to Watson is crazy. We almost have to trade for him given our draft and cap position.

I could see Watson say no to the Jets, first off we have the highest taxes in the nation, no weapons to help him. We are at least 3 yrs into a rebuild against two teams way ahead of us in their rebuild and New England with BellyI think Miami lucks into a trade for Wtatson ,Tua and their pick st 24

He also reportedly wanted Bienemy after talking to Patrick Mahomes and Mahomes vouching for him and they didn't even interview him. What a dumpster fire in Houston.

    Wait

A QB vouching for a (soon to be) former OC to be HC?

When was the last time that failed miserably?

    let me think

yup people think 1 college player is all but guarenteed to make us a good team and that you have to have an elite QB to be good. but they fail to look at all the elite QBs who didn't win a SB. cam newton and lamaar jackson in their MVP years didn't win one. I think coach is most important and then after we pick a coach him and JD can discuss the QB situation. keeping darnold and trading down isn't a bad idea. people also seem to think the best QBs always go at the tp but they don't mahomes and watson lasted until 10-12. haskins slipped to the mid 1st while daniel jones went 6th. josh allen went 7th and rosen 10 and everyone thought all 4 would go top 6 or 7. fans put more of an emphasis on QBs then the teams do. nothign wrong with defering a year for a QB or taking one late. back in 2018 when we were at 6 i said trade diown for a hall and draft lamaar jackson in the middle of the 1st. i was called an idiot. everyone wanted to trade up for baker. I also said we can stand sill and take allen. i was called an idiot and that allen was a bust. had the jets done either of my ideas we would be looking pretty good right now. lamaar jackson plus our 3 extra 3rds we traded away, plus the picks we would have gotten for trading down we would be in a great spot right now.

Basically a redo of the 2017 draft. I’ll sign up for this

100% he is. It’s a perfect body of work too because they both came from the same system. Lawrence is a bigger, faster, stronger arm. He is literally a better version of Watson.

Flame away if you want, but I actually don’t think it wise to trade away 3-4 1st round picks + more.

Watson is an awesome QB and is truly elite, but the problem is that the Jets aren’t a QB away. I’d rather they take a swing at a QB in the draft and still have the rest of our 1st rounders to build this team the right way (through the draft).

We should offer our 2nd overall for Watson straight up. We'd throw in Sam and James Morgan for a 2022 conditional 7th.

I wonder if we could parlay that #2 pick into a few more firsts and then use that capital to go get Watson? That would take some serious wheeling and dealing, but I think if you can go get Watson on his very reasonable 5 year contract and still retain at least 1 first in each of the next two years, that's kind of a steal. We know the Texans are really hurting for draft capital.

Bold for a team that has 0 draft capital and a bad roster (and an apparently disgruntled franchise QB).

Perhaps the potential OC named may have something to do with Watson's unhappiness.

Not really. Theres a long line of teams who would jump at the opportunity to trade for Watson.
Miami could offer 2 first this year and 2 seconds this year plus Tua and 2022 first and second. They instantly become contenders. Houston gets a young QB to build around multiple first and second round picks. Plus they can drop back from the #3 pick for a team who wants Sewell or a QB and add an additional first and second. That eliminates the disgruntled QB, adds a bounty of draft picks for this year and next. As far as the roster, it's still better than the Jets , but let's say your right and it's as bad as you claim.
Watson threw for over 4000 yards and lead the league in yard gained per passing attempt , with a terrible O line, 44 sacks allowed. 4th year and just made his 3rd straight pro bowl. If the roster there is really that bad, it just increases his value.

Deshaun must be licking his lips at the thought of throwing to Jets WR1, Braxton Berrios.

Just draft a QB. We may even, y’know, spend another high draft pick on a wide receiver.

Waste of time. Do not want him nor do I want to spend what he would likely cost to trade.

I'd rather draft a QB with our #2 pick
