he was clearly out-played by cleo lemon. same field, same weather. almost got both washington and coles beheaded with rainbow passes.
it says even more when a grown man agrees with this drivel. firstly the 17 year old admits to his deficiencies but moves right along in his point. Much like what he accused the Chad detractors of doing. Then he calls Chads 4th quarter mastery. give me a fucking break people. He threw a horrendous, disgusting pass that should have been picked ending the game. And it wasnt because of the rain or any bullshit like that, it was because he cannot throw the ball to the sidelines. Period. Then he throws a 2 yard pass that Leon turns into 64. If Leon doesnt break that run we aint getting into scoring position on that drive and you know it. I was thrilled as thrilled can be and jumping up and down in my living room when we won. But I also know that Chad sucks and we can only go so far because of it. The 17 year old has been a fan for 3 years, so I wouldnt expect him to be negative. I have been a fan for a lot longer and want to win a superbowl. I know we wont win one this year but I am also of the opinion that we will never win one with this guy at QB. But all you guys who want to make love to Chad cant understand that, and you obviously never will
if Pennys would be INT was caught, we would all be saying its time for him to go....he sucked last night. he sucked. he wasnt ok.....he wasnt hot and cold. he sucked! if youre not smart enough to realize that the team starts out with a handicap and has a built in ceiling because Chad is our QB, thast your problem. But to come on this board and berate posters like 3rdand15 and myself and others who look forward to a QB other than Chad is moronic (to qoute another poster) __________________ no, it's not sad. it's called being realistic.
youre right...Im not sure if Chad could make the throw that cleo did for the TD. And weve been talking about the 2 passes that almost got leon and coles killed but the one pass that illustrated our point the best was the sideline throw to coles a few minutes before he almost died....it would have been a huge first down picked up but the ball didnt get there in time and the defender knocked the ball away...the one at the sideline....he was completely open. Im not sure theres another qb in the league that doesnt complete that..... but joewillie and dino etc insist we're not Jet fans, How could a Jet fan possibly be happy about winning but still smart enough to realize we were very lucky to win inspite of our noodle armed QB
The TD pass to Cotchery was a great pass. I guess whether or not he played well in the 4th quarter last night is up to personal interpretation. The would be INT straight into the hands of a Miami DB that he luckily dropped is something I'm not willing to overlook. My opinion of a guys performance is not going to change based on something he himself had no control over. The Washington pass to set up the game winning FG was, like nearly half of Pennington's total passing yards on the day due solely to the elusiveness and quickness of Leon Washington. You act as if I've got some sort of personal vendetta against Pennington. I like the guy. I don't like the play I've seen from him most of the year. I argued these same points, that one or two nice plays at the end of the game or playing "well enough to win" after you put your team in a hole early or didn't capitalize on opportunities don't make you a good QB when people were ready to crown Eli last year. We've all seen how quickly a marginal QB can go from hero to goat with a little less help from his teammates.
You didn't see my posts on Chad. What I think is sad is the inability for Jets fans to be happy and appreciative of this season. Wining a game that matters. Or such... I think people like that are just too stuborn to show any happyness.
There you go. Who did he prevent the Jets from signing? Lamont Jordan? How about the pay cut he took this year? This is what you come up with after such a big win? This is sad. Very very sad. I have been a Jet fan since 1965 and want to win another title as much as anybody. I have 4 season tickets and have had seats since 1981, sinking thousands of dollars into this franchise. But to wake up the day after such a big win and read stuff like this. I just don't get it. It really is as if the game were reversed and the Jets lost. I just give up.
I think dino that you may also be thinking that all of the people bashing Chad are sitting in front of their computer are fuming mad kicking the television after the game...I for one, as I said earlier was as happy last night and today as Ive been in along long time. I was floating around work today. as I ripped Chad on this board today I had a smile on my face
I still don't think you are understanding my point. Sure, I realize that Pennington has deficiencies. He has trouble putting that extra zip on his passes and he doesn't throw the ball overly hard. However, I also believe that every QB (except a few) have trouble with certain aspects of the game. Pennington is obviously a very smart QB who makes great decisions and completes most of his passes. This is evidenced by him being the winningest QB (min 20 starts) in Jets history and him having the second or third highest completion percentage in league history. Just because a QB lacks in some parts of his games doesn't mean his team can't win a superbowl. That is obviously not the case. If you watched the game you would have seen that the 4th quarter was great for Pennington. First, you can't blame him for a play the other team didn't make. I could go back this year and point out 10 plays that we should have made that would have won us games. The force out against the Browns, a near pick by Vilma at the end of the Colts, a recovered onside kick against the Bears. The list goes on and on. Some plays are made in the NFL and some aren't. You are being incredibly ignorant in your posts. I have not once attacked you or said that your opinion is wrong. Everyone can have their opinion as long as it is argued in a logical way. Instead you tell me that I don't understand what is happening with my team. I also want my team win a superbowl and I have been a fan longer than three years. Sure, I don't know the past struggles of this team, I'll admit that but that doesn't lessen my desire to see my team in the big game. Instead of berating those who don't agree with you make a valid point once in a while.
Very, very well said. I keep reminding myself and jet fans that he is a winner. And he is doing it without much of a running game to take the pressure of of him. If he played for SD he might be unbeaten. As a comparison, Eli has the arm, but not the football presence of Chad. Eli will make more mistakes and win less games than Chad all else been equal. Give Chad a break.
First off nobody gives a crap how long you've been a Jets fan. You could have watched every game we've ever played, doesn't mean you understand it. 2nd, Chad has led his team to a division title and a playoff win that year, a wildcard, and a playoff win on the road against a 12-4 team, and is on the verge of taking a team that nobody thought would win more than 6 or 7 games to the playoffs again. But yea, he sucks. And btw, shortly after the almost interception he threw a perfect long touchdown to Cotchery between 2 defenders. The screen pass came much later.
Are you saying that that proves that Lemon is a better quarterback, and/or that you would have preferred to have him rather than Pennington under center for the NY Jets last night? TBTF
BTW, how many dropped passes did we have last night? I know that Jerrico dropped one and maybe two. TBTF
I don't disagree with most of what you've said, but I definitely disagree with this. IMO you most certainly do blame a player for doing something that would have led to a turnover (or more generally a loss) if the other team's player had merely been competent. There were dozens of posts after the Cleveland game saying that Chad made the big play at the end because that pass "should have" been a touchdown, and I agreed with them (he was awful for the rest of the game, however). If Vilma drops an easy INT right to him that costs the Jets the game, he certainly gets blame, and Manning also doesn't get to say that he didn't make a mistake in throwing it. Mangini took loads of flak around here for the decision to start the second half with that onside kick, and IMO he deserved it. By your logic Romo gets no credit for all of the excellent passes he throws that TO drops, since the completions didn't happen. It's the QB's job to get the ball to his receivers in the best possible position for them to catch it. The pass to Cotchery did that as well as you could ever ask for, and was a great play by Pennington and Cotchery. The pass to Washington did it also, but considering it went two yards in the air, it was hardly a great play by Pennington (sure was for Washington, though). By the same token, a pass thrown right at a DB is most definitely a mark against the QB, and I would be shocked if Pennington didn't think so also.
Lemon wasn't good last night. Awful throws all over the place. Terrible reads. Hesitation. Get outta here with the Lemon bullshit.
first of all why do you keep quoting me and arguing as if we have some back and fourth argument going here......to be honest with you I dont even know who you are or care about your opinion...that said.....you are the one making ignorant statements.....I understand you think Chad can win a superbowl. I understand other QBs have their own troubles as well......but lets get to your ignorance...probably the most ignorant thing Ive ever read on this thing....you just said that you cant blame Chad for a play that the other team didnt make.....wouldnt it make more logic to criticize Chad for that disgusting throw....yeah we got a break because the DB pathetically dropped the ball, but that doesnt make the throw any better...your logic is that of someone who is ignorant my friend....and if you dont think my posts are logical then ignore me, I have enough of a reputation on this board that I am taken seriously.....shall we move on to your other ignorant staments? Am I really supposed to be impressed with Chads completion % when he throws the ball 3 yards? I mean seriously dude, I understand youre in love with Chad but cant you even admit that if someone throws 3 yrd passes theyre gonna have high completion %??? I mean, a 6 year old could figure that out. The highest winning % of any jet QB? Wow....that is incredible especially when you consider what a winning franchise we've been....whats his winning % anyway? about 55%???? wow, that works out to about 8.8 wins a year...hall of fame numbers no doubt. you shouldnt be allowed to post anymore dude.....go watch deal or no deal or CSI or something, footballs not your thing
It's pretty obvious Pennington played poorly. That perfect TD strike to Cotchery compensated for his overall poor performance slightly, but it still doesn't erase the fact that he hasn't done much for the whole game other than get the WRs decapitated. Having said that, there aren't many QBs that would've had much success in those conditions (wet field, no run game, up against an upper-tier defense). For everyone bashing on Chad, I'm kind of curious what your expectations were in the first place. It's hardly fair to think he would've dominated in a game like that, especially with his physical limitations. Regardless of how poorly he played, he is still the best possible QB for the Jets to win games. Winning the game doesn't excuse his poor throws and such, but really, does anyone really think rookie Kellen Clemens or craptacular Patrick Ramsey could've done any better?
