The reason some people think Brick sucks is that espn gave us the Jason Taylor montage because they are so in love with him. There were 4 plays of note

    a) Taylor faked like he was going inside and went outside and sacked pennington. Good move by one of the best defensive players against a rookie LT.

    b) Using a bullrush Taylor puts pressure on chad but chad gets the ball out before he gets there. Good move by Taylor, at least Brick held him back long for chad to get rid of the ball.

    c) The running play, this wasn't a play where you said oh it's Brick's fault, someone screwed up the assigment it wasn't that he beat Brick it was a busted play.

    d) Brick picking up Jason Taylor with one hand and throwing him to the ground. Enough said.

Any rookie offensive lineman is going to struggle with Taylor. If only on two plays from scrimmage does taylor really cause pressure then Brick did a heck of a job. It's way to early to expect perfection.

No it was not on field turf, Miami has real turf. Aside from Baltimore, Miami proably has the best track in the NFL. I thought the field was great last night and in no way did the "grit" (rubber) from field turf play into the equation because they played on real turn my son.

Brick played fine against the best DE in football this year, very solid performance, and a promising one too.

CHad got the job done, another win, puts us in great position. Thats all, GO JETS.

I was at the game last night, and if you were'nt there you have no idea how hard it was rainnig. You couldnt tell on TV. When the rain finally subsided int he 4th quater is when Pennington did shine. Im perfectly happy with him leading the Jets in the playoffs...

obviously Ferguson wasn't dominating, but he was going against Taylor who has made even great tackles look silly. He needed help here and there and on the sack Taylor made a nice move, but those were only a few plays out of the whole game. He held his own against an elite DE in the league.

As far as Pennington goes, yeah it wasn't his best game by far, but two things people seem to be forgetting. 1. The Dolphins have a really good defense. Just two weeks ago they SHUT OUT Brady and the Pats, and made Brady look like a fool. 2. It was pouring out. Hard for Pennington to get a grip on the ball and therefore let it rip down the field. He did leave the ball hanging for the recievers to get killed a few times, but that hasnt happened ALL season, so its not something to cry about.

Bottom line, I'm not a sunshiner by an means, but there's no way I'm nit-picking and trying to feel bad about a tough win against a division rival late in the year to set us up in the drivers seat- no way.

No way, I disagree. Brick played pretty damn well as I thought he would - I think several posters here were expecting the worst but Brick held Taylor to only one sack and three tackles, not bad for a rookie LT against an all-pro DE. Did you see the play when Brick slammed Taylor into the turf? I never could have imagined the Jets 9-6 at this point, I had them at 6-10 this year. Another couple of decent drafts and the future looks even brighter.....

I think Dbrick played admirably....all I wanted is for him to keep taylor from making the gigantic sack and fumble recovery that wold have shifted the game and killed us...and that did not happen. I also think the sunshiners may be making a bit more of that "pancake block". If Im thikint of the same one you guys are, Taylor left his feet to try to knock down the pass and thats when Dbrick dropped him. It looked great but I thik Taylor leaving his feet obviously helped make it look more crushing..Either way Dbrick played well, and lets ot forget this is unchartered waters for him as far as games played so he gets a break there..

What a rah-rah inspiring post. Here is the thing........we are definitely over-achieving. What a great feeling this is. Did we over-achieve with Herm? One could marginally make a case for this when we got to the Pittsburgh game (the O'Brien debockle), but I think it would be weak. We never played at the level that equated to the talent of the team under Herm. Under Mangini we have played above the talent level of this team. We haven't been able to say or think this since Parcells. And, I actually like this team better. It is more together and focused than I have seen - maybe ever.

I am not going to defend Chad, but he should definitely be considered for the comeback player of the year. Does he have a strong arm? NO. Should we go in another direction next year? I do not think so. We still need to get better players around the play makers and then we will begin to distinguish ourselves as one of the more elite teams in the NFL. We are not there yet.

I think we will win against Oakland. It it hard to say how far we go int the playoffs.........can't predict. But, as a fan, I will enjoy it, even in defeat, when it happens. I still will be very proud of what have accomplished this year. No matter what.

Remember, in January 2006, this team was in complete disarray and shambles after Herm's lack of management. Nobody would of put us where we are today and be taken seriously when the season started.

We have the most important asset of any football team. A great coach!!!!!!!! And, great ones are very hard to find. I really think Mangini has a great chance to bring a Super Bowl victory home to New York. Probably not this year, being realistic. But, remember, if you are in the playoffs, you have a shot..........ya never know. Maybe this year will turn out to be one of the greatest coaching performances of all time in the NFL.

I am proud to be a Jets fan.

This is the dumbest fucking thread I've seen after a Jets win. We just beat our rival to move one step closer to the playoffs, and yet we still have people posting multiple paragraph threads critisizing this team. Sure we're not perfect, but some of you really need to crawl out of this inferiority complex mentality and just enjoy the games.

    /golf clap..... well said duketogo.

This win was nothing short of awesome. I have was remembering DM faking the spike last night. We swept Miami this year and pantsed them in front of a national audience. Everything else after this is just gravy to me lol.

As much as we like to hate Taylor, no one would cry if he were on our team. The guy is defiinitely pro-bowl material at his position.
