SMH How has JD let Gase walk all over him?

We don't need to do any such thing as bring in a Tom Coughlin or Jim Caldwell. You have no idea what you're talking about. Read the article I posted about TL refusing to play for the Jags. It points out how many complaints were made to the league about Coughlin by players. That's the last thing the Jets need. JD has that reputation and respect. He IS a football guy.

I nominate my mom for head coach. Has watched enough football to know what to call.

He hasn't. There's also not much of a way for Gase to do that anyway. They're on two entirely different tracks within the organization that lead back to the owner.

Luke Fickell from Cincinnati is a name to watch. I don't think we'd look to make the move but he was a long time Ohio State assistant under Jim Tressell and has taken Cincinnati probably as far as they'll get this year as a group of five team.

Good football guy. Not sure if he's ready to make the jump after only four years there though. Rehabbed that program pretty well.

Caldwell might be somebody I'd want given his success with QBs and that he had a little success with the Lions. I really prefer someone with HCing success in their background. I'm not banging the table for him, but he's someone I hadn't really thought about before.

It would be a ballsy move, but I'd be open to Joe Brady with Marvin Lewis as DC.

Not me. IMO he hasn't had nearly enough coaching experience. No way should he be the new HC.

I'll trust JD on this..,if he likes him, ok, but I agree that he hasn't had enough experience to be a HC.

I'll trust JD too, but if he misses on the HC, that trust will probably be gone with the Johnsons and the Jets fanbase and he probably won't get a chance to hire another HC unless he manages to have two of the best draft classes of all time the next two years.

I'm hoping Fangio ends up our DC but it's unlikely

I saw a rumor that harbaugh resigned a few days ago.... doesn’t look like that was true.

I think if we are rolling with Sam we should hire him and maybe draft a Mac Jones in the second as a back up plan. I know Jim won’t stick around, but I trust JD to right the ship and at least we would be more competitive or even overachieve for a few years while JD gets a few draft classes.

I'm not completely against this, but I'm not a huge fan of it either. Will Harbaugh want too much control? Can he work with JD? He is an accomplished HC and that's high on my list though.

I heard somewhere that this could be an option, and I think I would like it. Similar to the McVay/Phillips paring with the Rams

Brady is an interesting candidate but I think he needs more NFL seasoning before he's handed the keys to the castle. Definitely needs an experienced staff. No thanks on Martindale. I'd be good with Campbell.

    Hi everyone,

Thought I would create one thread where we can post updates on the search here--I'm also going to post other teams updates because that eliminates possibilities for us.

You thought the blowback to the Gase hire was bad? Watch the board explode for the return of Schotty.

If we hire Schotty I’d strongly consider leaping off a bridge.

If I'm remembering correctly many of my fellow Jets fans weren't very fond of Brian Schottenheimer during his time here. He was nicknamed Sch*tty by some.

I can't imagine that hire for HC being a popular one.
