I don’t. You read some of this stuff. You’re whining and complaining that they tried. You don’t lose on purpose. EVER !!! I’m sorry that Jacksonville ended up worse then them. It happens but if anyone whose watched the Jets vs. NE, Raiders, could see that they were better then a zero win team. You can’t and it is moronic to criticize a team for not losing on purpose. At the end of the day they weren’t as bad as needed. And you know what? They’re going to beat New England the last week also. And it was happening no matter what happened yesterday. Move on.
Well true they also spent draft capital but I don't know that the return has justified the investment. Two third round picks on RBs, both of whom look like they should have been drafted in the fifth or later. They moved up to draft Knox in the third too. Great athlete but oh oh manos di pietras. So it hasn't all been home runs. Sam just needs a good coach in a system designed for his skillset and players who can execute the chosen scheme. BTW I checked into the Jaquar message board to see the reactions. I was expecting excitement. Amazing what a lifeless and dispassionate fan base they have.
No one know how any draft pick will turn out. It’s just the fact that they had a chance to draft someone that is generally unanimously considered the best at his position. a position that we need to upgrade and the team put the possibility of attaining him in jeopardy.
But Peyton is not Brady... and Brady is an unexpected all time great. That’s why I’m giving them one more season.... you never know... but I’ve been saying that for 30 years.
Although I agree with you, nobody cares that you are correct right now. The Spurs tanked for Duncan and became a powerhouse for over a decade. Football doesn’t really work like basketball but key players in any sport can make a big difference.
Not interested in getting into an argument, but you shot down my post saying I believed the Jets had been playing well enough to somehow pinch a win from somewhere in their last three games by saying the Rams were arguably the best team in the NFC. Then, when the Jets managed to pinch a win, you said you always had doubts about the Rams. It just seemed a little revisionist but it's no big deal. My point was that it is really difficult to go 0-16 because in some game you're going to get the breaks. The Jets got a lot of breaks last night.
Exactly! How can anyone possibly say "The Jets blew it!"? To "blow" something means you were trying to achieve it, but who would ever think a professional would purposely try to lose (unless they're being paid off which is something altogether different than "tanking")? Yes, if the Jets lost on their own "merits", fine, they "deserve" the #1 pick, but no way were they EVER going to try to lose! NOt Douglas, not Gase, not any of the players! The people here and in the media acting like the Jets had this "tank plan" and they failed to execute it are clueless if they really believe that. I'll say I have mixed emotions over the win, because I really want them to finally have a true FQB and Lawrence is the closest thing to that they've had a chance at, but I'm happy to see that they actually have SOME talent that can be built upon - if they get rid of Gase.
Moving out of market had mostly been a pain In The ass since 2007, I have to go out of my way to watch games. The last 2 years it’s been a saving grace, it’s kept me from watching games. Especially this year, I’ve only watched the prime time national televised ones. I’ll always be a fan, but if I dont see any promising moves this off-season, it will be the same next year.
You are taking a short-term view of winning--its like if you're married and a hot girl comes on to you, do you win by doing her? In the short-term yes. But the wise thing to do is take the long-term view. Do some research as to how the city of JAX is acting right now including the mayor--if that team wins a game in the next 2 weeks they're going to get strung up. TL is worth a billion dollars to that economy. They have the right perspective.
Do you have some reliable, first hand info that says the GM, HC, and players for the Jags are actively trying to lose games? If so, please call the NFL and hand it over to them, which will put an end to it. Just because a lot of their fans are screaming for them to tank - like ours have done - doesn't mean anyone on the team actually is.
I'm saying look at what the mayor of Jax is doing and saying--its obvious. Hide your head in the sand then.
Even though the team is the Jets, this isn't an airport, you don't have to announce your departure, LOL . Me, I'm gonna ride this tailspin out until we recover or crash and burn.
I want Lawrence also but at the end of the day, if both teams lose out, they weren’t bad enough. As for Jax, why cause the Mayor made a statement it means they aren’t trying. No team loses on purpose. Jacksonville will do their best the best two weekends and I wouldn’t be surprised one bit if they beat Chicago.
I agree. These players don't give a rats ass about Trevor Lawrence. They are only 7 point dogs. Maybe indy rests starters next week?
