Jets did him no favors but I can see Sam flourishing in a system with quick passing like what the Steelers do, or a system to utilize his athleticism like the Niners. But that would require the staff to actually do these things. Sam absolutely has to wear the stench on him because he hasn’t been good but he has t been given the help to succeed neither. Why after the biggest running game Gase runs out Gore to start the game or to start a series? Adams and Ty were HOT and were getting chunk runs because they have the speed and shiftiness to hit the holes way faster. There were a few plays that if Ty or Adams were in there, they would hit for much longer. And when you have to rebuild your QB back up, you start with the run. You do what the Browns have done. You take the game out of the QB’s hands and establish a run game. Then when you do so, playaction will actually bite and get those LB’s and safeties playing up. No one is scared of Gore breaking a run off playaction. that’s what the Browns did. They simplified the gameplan for Baker. He had like 4 games no INT’s then suddenly PA pass and the lanes to pass were more open and as a result, he torched the Titans. Suddenly the Browns have an elite run game and now a confident QB to boot when they need yards through the air, but they will never forget their identity. That’s coaching. This team has zero identity on offense.
Soft Pac 12 schedule with the best Pac 12 talent around him to bail him out. The expert analysis of him made me think I was blind, because having watched him in college I was never impressed by him. He sucks now because he was never good to begin with.
Chad Cascadden not mincing words on @SNYtv rearnold: "He is what he is. Mechanics are off. Mental is off. He has to see a 6 man blitz & check out of it by now. Can't stand in the pocket, hold the ball all day & get sacked. Seattle wasn't even hiding what they were doing."
They are the worst pass defense in the league....even worse than an 0-16 team Sent from my SM-N986U using Tapatalk
Darnold's demeanor was disgraceful at the end of that game. And I'm not trying to pour it on him because the way the Jets have wronged him has played a big part in him feeling the way that he does. But if you want to be an NFL quarterback that elevates the players around you and leads a team, you can't be hanging your head, shrugging your shoulders and looking like a sap. Geno had his fair share of problems and obviously he had locker room problems with his teammates at times when he was here. But we never saw that out of him. Same with Sanchez. The best thing for him is to go sit behind a big time quarterback for 2-3 years and hope he can catch some journeyman fire at the end of his twenties. Because if he wants to make it in this league he needs major rehabilitation. And I don't think a lot of NFL teams are chomping at the bit for that sort of project.
He needed that rehabilitation to begin with. He shoulda sat behind teddy that first year Sent from my SM-N986U using Tapatalk
This team is a disgrace. The lack of support for Sam is unbelievable. He was drowning out there and no one seemed to care. You need to help your young QB out. Sam's time with the Jets is definitely done and when he starts to succeed elsewhere, we will see just how much the Jets held him back.
After the past few weeks I've changed my position from wanting to trade the first pick for an assload of picks, to wanting to draft Trevor Lawrence.
Darnold doesn't care either. Yucking it up on the field, yawning, its just his career at stake, oh well. When is the season over so we can go surfing??
Darnold wants to be like his hero Jordan Palmer. Bounce around the league, make a little money and then retire young to the surf board and teach some other 'cool' guys how to play QB as a consultant. He can always hang his hat on that Rose Bowl win.
