The likelihood of Lawrence not wanting to play for the Jets is so minimal that it’s silly to be concerned about. Every QB that expects to go #1 knows he’s going to the worst team in the league, so the Jets being bad this year is what Lawrence would expect from any team drafting him at 1. The only reason he would not want to go to the Jets would be personal, and there is no indication he has a personal reason not to want to play for the Jets.
Here are some facts: 1) Sam is a good dude with a good head on his shoulders 2) He's athletic and has enough arm talent 3) He's often reckless 4) He isn't consistently accurate 5) He struggles under pressure, especially defense that emphasize cover 0 and hasn't improved 6) He isn't durable 7) He isn't good manipulating defenses with his eyes Sam has traits to be a solid starter in the right system with the right supporting cast. But he will never be elite--he is not capable of it. I would say the same about every QB int hat draft and a good majority of NFL QB's. Bottom line: It is easier to win with an elite QB than without one. When you don't have have an elite QB, you take/sign one when they are available. At the end of the day, this is a game and I don't support attacking players personally. I support Sam as a person and he seems like a fine person. I am happy he has made it this far in the sports industry....I would hope the same if my child was an athlete. As a fan, I am rooting for a SB at some point and the shortest path to get one is an elite QB. So yes, I'm going to root for one 0-16 season to potentially grab a future HOF level QB. None of the 2018 QB's were as highly regarded as TL. That's why they were jockeying for position for #1 until draft day.
It says a lot that our resident Darnold apologists are trying to spin this as "Sam had a good game!". When your QB having a "good game" means 3 turnovers and under 200 yards throwing, you have a bad QB.
it’s what happens when you don’t establish the run aka you run Gore for 3 yards a pop. Then you put your QB in 3rd and longs.
Lol the excuses keep coming for a guy who just sucks. Time to accept he is garbage. Lawrence here we come!
Today was a combination of a guy whos not a starting NFL QB and also totally defeated. Jets ruined him, but it's hard to say he would have had success elsewhere... he's just not very aware.
Geno Smith outplayed Sam. With Sam playing against back ups in the 4th quarter. Geno Smith who I did not think was even playing anymore, outplayed Sam. Sam is the worst starting qb in football and people still think he has trade value
Remember when everybody thought Sam was so much better than Josh Allen & Baker Mayfield? Good times...
The jets didnt ruin him, he was never that good. I always say thisnis why you need to take college record with a grain of salt. I dont care how many records you have, how do you play the game? Sam.....is exactly what he was in college. A turnover machine. Difference is the worst NFL would blow out the best college team. That's just a reality. Everyone is fast and strong in the NFL. Thats when mechanics become so important. Sam has not adapted, you can blame gase, you can blame the talent around him, you can make up whatever excuse you want, but the fact is Sam ruined Sam. He was not prepared to play in the NFL. He was a friggin redshirt freshman whos never shown any improvement or development at all. He just played in a soft ass west coast division and padded his stats against bad teams. Hes just been exposed in the NFL Sent from my SM-N986U using Tapatalk
Allen is just getting better every game and progressing well. Not a super star QB but gets the job done.
