I was a huge Peyton guy when he was coming out and knew he was waaaaay better than Ryan Leaf but if you remember it was hotly debated who the Colts should take. With Lawrence and same with Elway there is absolutely no question who the number one pick was going to be. Now why I believe Lawrence is a better prospect over Luck is that TL is an absolute winner and has only lost 1 game in last years final. He most likely will be in the finals 3 straight years. This quality is what makes him the best prospect in a looooong time. I believe Luck and Lawrence are on par from a pure talent level but Lawrence has the edge due to his excellent winning pedigree on the big stage.
He's way better than Mahomes was in college. Mahomes was actually a losing college QB and would have never went #1 overall (at the time) so to sit here and say that Trevor hasn't been a better college QB than Mahomes was, is insane; Because Trevor Lawrence is on the verge of going down as not only the greatest ACC QB of All-Time but also the greatest NCAA QB of All Time (pound for pound). Something no one has ever said about Patrick Mahomes. How many national championships did Mahomes play in? 0. Because Trevor is about to play in his 3rd National championship game. And PS: Mahomes put up his numbers against some of the worst LAUGHING STOCK defenses especially pass defenses within the Nation and anyone who knows anything about college football understands that the Big 12 Conference is one of the worst defensive conferences around. Patrick Mahomes: 13 wins and 19 loses (13-19). 857/1349 (63.5%). 11,252 passing yards (8.3 yards per attempt). 93 passing TDs/29 INT's. (3.2 TD to INT ratio). 308 rushing attempts for 845 rushing yards (2.7 yards per rush attempt) and 22 rushing TD's. QB Rating of 152.0. Trevor Lawrence 34 wins and 1 loss (34-1). 635/952 (66.7%). 8,489 passing yards (8.9 yards per attempt). 81 TDs/13 INTs. (6.2 TD to INT ratio). 108 rushing attempts for 794 rushing yards (4.2 yards per rush attempt) and 14 rushing TDs. QB Rating of 167.0. 34-1 vs 13-19? Soon to be 3 NCAA Championship Games vs. 0? QB Rating of 167 vs. 152? in what world do you live in where you feel you have the nerve to claim Trevor Lawrence wasn't a better Quarterback and Football player than Patrick Machines was and therefore Lawrence isn't generational? LOL!
It would be the worst trade in the history of this franchise. A few close seconds: --Terry Boobway trades 2 first round picks AND a 4th rounder for Dwayne Robertson--a short, squat DL who didn't do squat. Could barely see over the line of scrimmage and never got into the backfield. --Terry Boobway trades 1st round pick for two second round pick and then takes a kicker with one of them --Mike MacMoron trades a high first round pick plus THREE second rounders to move up just 3 spots in round 1 a month before the draft without even knowing who is there
I agree, but I don't believe that would happen with the Jets. Douglas is a former OL. Do you really think he is not going to finish the OL rebuild and ensure that the Jets have a strong OL? Do you think he is Mac redoux and will ignore the offense?
I would accept no less than both their #1 picks as well as their 2nd, 3rd and 4th round picks in 2021, their 1st through 4th round picks in 2022, their 1st through 4th round picks in 2023, and Josh Allen. So it would take the equivalent of 4-1st round picks, 3-2nd round picks, 3-3rd round picks, and 3-4th round picks. No team is going to pay that.
The Jets wouldn't be stripping the roster bare. It's already stripped pretty bare. None of the other teams that tried to do it had all the draft picks or the cap space that Douglas will have to work with.
I'm sorry, but "I don't believe that would happen with the Jets." is reserved exclusively for POSITIVE outcomes.
ROFLMAO! How did Mac start to build around Darnold? How many OL did he draft high? How many WRs did he draft high? How did all of his draft picks work out? Taking a safety and a DT with your 1st round picks isn't building around a QB. You are truly clueless.
Why do you guys keep talking about putting Lawrence on this team? He won't be on this team. With all the draft picks and cap space that Douglas has to work with, this team will change dramatically by next season, and again by the 2022 season.
Remember when we were 1-15 and traded out of the #1 pick during the 1997 NFL draft? What a freaking disaster that turned out to be! The Rams used OUR #1 PICK on Orlando Pace! Who ended up having a Hall of Fame Career as a 3x 1st Team All-Pro, 7x Pro Bowler and also HOF beast Franchise Tackle; won ended up helping lead his Rams to a Super Bowl title. We traded the #1 overall pick? And passed on a player who ended up as a 2000s all decade team member and HOF great? Any fan who is willing to trade the #1 pick for "more picks" while passing on Trevor Lawrence is a weirdo and absolutely NUTS!
LOL! How can the roster be stripped bare when, as you said, it is ALREADY bare. Mike MacMoron left us nothing, except dead cap space for Bell, Enumwa, Tru Johnson, etc. Johnson somehow managed to find the worst GM ever in MacIdiot and paired him with the worst coach (whom the fins had just fired ) in Gase.
The other thing is mobility - Lawrence has it over Luck in spades...not just me saying that but scouts that pointed this out. Luck couldn't dodge all the pressures , which eventually did him in.
I been hard on JD NC but I do agree. The man understands we need O-Line and WR makeovers which is why he went Becton/Mims back to back during the 1st and 2nd rounds going Franchise LT/WR during his first ever draft. He also traded Jamal Adams for 2 1st round picks. You can bet your bottom dollar that if JD drafts HIS Quarterback in Trevor Lawrence? He won't stop @ just "Becton and Mims". Not a chance. He'll use more 1st and 2nd round draft picks on O-Line and WR in order to build an offense around Trevor Lawrence. And with A+ cap space he'll address offense in Free Agency too.
Well I'm an ACC and college football junkie. I can post multiple articles of people raving how Trevor is one of the greatest college football players of All Time. I bet you can't post any articles of people claiming A.) Mahomes was #1 pick worthy in college or B.) A top 5 NCAA QB of All Time. Hindsight is 20/20 but back then? You couldn't. Mahomes turned out to become greatness but college wise? You can NEVER say he was better than TREVOR LAWRENCE; Because he wasn't.
Mahomes went 10th overall. Pigs will fly before Trevor ever lasted until the 2nd pick, let alone the 10th. I love Mahomes too. But to end this discussion, no, he wasn't a better QB than Lawrence (while @ college) and he had a losing record.
The one thing ill say is as disappointing as the D rob trade was..he had some very good games as a jet incl in the playoffs.Id take him over every 1st round DT theyve drafted since him..MAYBE id take Mo Wilk but D rob played through alot of injuries & never quit on the game like MW did.
Well then, there you go! The omnipotent DWC has made his ruling! What a silly boy you are to believe in stats so completely to the exclusion of everything else. The very fact that Mahomes played on a team with less talent and yet performed the way he did - producing lower stats in the process - actually proves how good he was.
