Ok -- now we have: The Pats have won the division. Balt Tenn SD Kc 8-7 (4-7) Ten 8-7 (5-6) Jax 8-7 (5-6) Den 8-6 (7-4) Cincy 8-6 (6-4) Jets 8-6 (5-5) Pitt and Buff are out. I know the Jets win 2x they are in. BUT -- help me out if they lose. Also -- now that the Titans beat the Jax in a tie does that help the jets. This is nuts.
For the jets to get in at 9-7 Jax must lose next week, and the loser of the Bengals-Broncos game must lose next week also OR if the broncos are the losers and win next week, but KC wins too, Jets are in over both of them due to divisional tiebreaker between KC and Den to knock Den out, then Jets have better AFC record than KC. Root for the Bengals to win, better odds.
3 of the 4 must happen to get it at 9-7 1) Jax loses to KC (Root for Herm!) 2) Buf loses to BAL (Good shot) 3) CIN loses out Now it's tough. 4) EITHER DEN loses one game and KC wins next week OR Den loses twice So the outcome of this CIN/DEN game will put this into a much more clear picture. But with JAX and BUF losing this week, things are going well so far.
Cincy is looking good, IF Cincy wins here is how we get in. 1. Win 2 and we're in 2. Win 1, and have jax lose next week THAT'S IT! Because that would lift KC to 9-7, knocking out Den even if they win. And jets win tiebreaker over Tenn via head to head.
Definitely, I'm confident the jets will go 10-6 and take care of business. BUT, just in case, their are still very realistic ways for the jets to get in if they blow 1 game.
If that happens, Tenn and Jax would have their divisional tiebreaker take place first, eliminating jax due to Div record. Jets then win head to head over Tenn. So Jets would win in the even of that 3 way tie.
Because then for the jets to get in at 9-7, the ONLY thing that would need to happen next week is a jax loss.
Quick question for my clarification: after the Jags loss today, we NOW control our own destiny by winning out, right? Before their loss, we wouldn't have gotten in if us, the Jags, Broncos/Bengals won out? I know it's pointless now, but I wanted to make sure.
If Denver wins and we win out , which I fully expect, we have a better chance of getting the Colts from the #6 spot. The way the Colts and the Pats are playing I would rather face the Colts.
