I don't think that's accurate. A poster in another thread said that there was an injury clause in Bell's contract, and if he was right, if Bell became seriously injured this season, the Jets would have been on the hook for Bell's salary next season. If that poster is correct, by releasing him, they avoided that risk.

My response to that is since Bell was released, it probably means that Gase isn't getting fired in the next few weeks, and is either not getting fired until the end of the season, if at all. If that's totally C. Johnson's decision and he still believes in Gase, Douglas may wind up resigning.

Douglas is not able to fire anyone unless C. Johnson gives him that power.

Not totally, but to some extent. Part of the blame goes to Bell. Part goes to Mac and the sorry OL we've had. Part goes to Gase because he didn't scheme for what Bell does well, including using him in the passing game.

He certainly deserves to with the way he has played this season, but I'm hoping that the new HC will be able to get him back on track.

Herndon is performing at the kind of level that endears him to a guy like Gase. If he were to actually start, you know, catching the ball, then of course, get rid of him.

Not likely that Herndon can relate to Gaze. Herndon a huge disappointment. Hopefully the next staff can get him on track like you say

Gase likes bad players because they don't have the leverage to call him out for being a shitty coach.

Hes still owed 2 years at over $5 million per. Hes not walking away from that. Getting $10 million plus after hes gone leaving a talentless roster, injury plagued players due to gross injury mismanagement and a broken QB will be his final fuck you.

We trade Adams, and the problem is still here.

We release Anderson, and the problem is still here.

We ruin Darnold, and the problem is still here.

We release Bell, and the problem is still here.

I wish I could say it was unbelievable... sadly all too predictable.

He's here until the #1 pick is here.

Then he's gone. This is the only viable option that a plan for this team is in place, and unfortunately you cant tell everyone that.

This speaks volumes to me that this happened with bell the game after perine got 0 touches.

Douglas wants his rookies (not hall) on the pitch now.

I hope bell lands in a spot where he is wanted by the HC.

We're getting near the end of the Maccagnan error. A few moves still to come but the fingerprints of the worst GM in Jets history are almost completely wiped away.

Bell was never going to be a good acquisition for the Jets. He was money-focused and proved it by sitting out a year when he was in the hands of a top 5 organization that supported his playstyle. His HC never wanted him, lobbying against his signing before the fact and then going on a tear to get rid of the aforementioned worst GM in Jet's history after it.

He was a good soldier for the Jets but he was carrying a popgun into battle and in the games he played for the Jets he wasn't a positive factor for them even once.

Hopefully the 2019 free agent period was the end of a two decade sprint to futility with annual big signings that produced at 10 cents on the dollar. If that is the case the Jets have a chance to rebound and become a successful franchise. If not, we'll all be watching other teams in a few years as the Johnson's flounder around looking for a new home for the franchise.

Bad news: This was a bad day to buy a Le’veon Bell jersey.

Good news: I still have my Ken Ballage jersey.

Just once, I'd like to wake up to news that makes the Jets sound like a well run, successful franchise. Just once. That's not too much to hope for is it?

Tell me about it, every morning when I wake up I check the news around the NFL expecting to see something to give a sliver of hope but time after time I'm left disappointed.

Let me explain. More hand offs to Gore, the game clock never stops, the faster it is to the number one pick. Kapish?
