Exactly! There's no way Gase should be the HC next year even if a miracle happened and we closed out 6-2 again.
I will be very very surprised if the Jets go 0-16. I see them winning 1 or 2 games. I think the offense with Mims and Perriman will improve and they’ ll start to put up more than 15 points. Problem is defense and GW is not that good to stop 3 and outs. Some folks were saying Arizona didn’t look that good. Murray just threw his highest passing yards! I don’t mind the Jets losing but can we we at least get some offense!
Dowell Loggains to the rescue! Ah the good old days, back when people like myself got chastised for destroying the hire when we made it.
Most didn't, but there was that stubborn group that just couldn't accept the fact that we didn't know what the fuck we were doing and well on the way to ruining the most talented QB we've ever had.
So, if the "offensive genius" is so bereft of solutions to how putrid his offenses have been, WTF is he still the HC? I mean Johnson allegedly hired him specifically because of his reputation as an offensive genius and a Qb whisperer, so if he's now publicly admitting that he's not up to those jobs, doesn't that give the Johnsons all the reason they need to fire him? What are they waiting for? What is their plan?
Honestly I'd keep Gase at this point to maximize our chances of getting the top pick. But the Johnsons are too dumb to think of that, they're probably high snorting baby powder.
Kotite was a decent enough offensive mind in Philly, but lost his last 7 games there and Leon Hess just HAD to have him. He was burnt out, didn't care at all anymore, and just went through the motions. He collected Hess's money. If you ever listen to Boomer Esiason talk about it, it's telling. So, from that standpoint he was worse than Gase. He was in WAY Over his head. BUT....the team was still more competitive. It was bad, don't get me wrong, but those teams were in games and just werne't good enough to win. And it was a different era of football. This team...completely clueless, not competitive at all, and in the era of football that we're in and the complete inability to even muster a Division III college team offense, this to me is worse. It certainly feels worse. EDITED: To add about fan apathy, I think the apathy is worse now. The fans back then were angry adn embarrassed but still loyal and the team turned it around fairly quickly. THIS....this has come on the heels of two coaches (end of Rex, and Bowles) who were terrible and progressively worse, and now Gase is the worst of them all. The constant rebuild has made people actually realize that this organization is on a hamster wheel and it will be hard to change it. Hess as an owner cared deeply, he was just inept. These guys.....they do everything backwards and we're now, excepting 2015, 8 years into a continuing cycle of bad personnel decisions and "rebuilds".
The Johnsons have to be both masochistic beating themselves up believing Gase will help lead this Team to a breakout coached game any minute or having major ego concerns admitting they screwed up badly hiring Gase. And Sadistic to present this Hot Garbage to the the Fans week in and week out The Bullsh*t Joe Douglas gushed about CJ when he was hired: how "passionate" he is at football operations was obviously an insult to our intelligence ...there is no evidence that Gase is any good, or Sam, or the other scrubs collected on this laughingstock team The Johnsons have shilled the Fans and now are being disingenuous to the new GM
I hate Gase as much as anyone on this board or any other Jet fan for that matter, but do the guy a favor and put him out of his misery. He has ZERO interest in being here, the players have zero interest in him being here, and the fans FOR SURE have zero interest in him being here. All the while every media person/radio host/tv host is killing him and feels he has ZERO reason to be here. What the F*CK is the point of keeping him right now? At least show people that you recognize this is a the ultimate dumpster fire and do SOMETHING. Geez
That move can at least be justified to some extent. Bell is your top runner, big money earner, you go with your best weapon, yada yada.
You are 100% correct, but every day this crapola of a season goes by we run the risk of winning a game if the players feel "galvanized" once he leaves the building...and more wins aint good in the Lawrence sweepstakes Its like when Toilet Bowles was coaching those meaningless wins a few Seasons back and I remember us beating KC late in the season thus demoting our Draft ranking Firing Gase, if it happens would be immediately gratifying...but Vilma said it earlier... that with present HC this can be a Front Office engineered Tank job going forward..ugh!
I don't see the point of getting the top picks anymore. If history is the judge, they'll be off the team within two years.
