Hitting on a first round pick for a GM is like a chef that has devoted their whole life to cooking being happy they can make scrambled eggs Sent from my Pixel 3 XL using Tapatalk
Btw, why are we fired up about Douglas? He didn’t draft for B’More, and idk if anyone has seen the eagles recently, but ugh.
Even in the midst of the carnage through 3 games this season, I'm all the way in on the Joe Douglas experience. So much damage has been done by prior regimes that it can't be fixed with a select few moves, I believe in the general style/angle he's taken in establishing foundational pieces and assets, and both his pedigree and talent as an executive are almost universally praised as being of the highest order. I genuinely believe he's the guy who can overcome the Johnsons' ineptitude at the ownership level. It's just not going to be a fast turnaround (unless they happen to land Lawrence or Fields, and they end up being legit FQB).
Is there a single draft pick by Douglas outside of the punter who hasn’t been injured this year? It’s alarming how no one can stay healthy. Especially the younger guys.
Just curious, and I’m not trying to give ya a hard time, but why are you all in on him? I actually wanna be too, but his draft-3 games in-hasn’t really hit. And you can mAke the case he’s missed on every FA so far.
Not me. How is going from 7-9 to what we've seen so far this year acceptable? The franchise is going backwards. I'm seeing people mention 0-16 if they don't get a win in these next three games it might happen.
They won’t be favorites in any. Unless we make a change and see a spark (no guarantee) we won’t be within 10 in any game
Because he has a great pedigree. He learned from one of the best GMs of all time in Ozzie Newsome, and also learned in Chicago and Philadelphia. He has set about doing things the right way in FA and the draft, and isn't acting like a panicking fan like I'm seeing on this board. He got a haul for Adams when no one thought he would get much. He may wind up not being as good as I hoped, but he has the background and is highly respected around the league.
Not sure how the guy can go to work as GM of the Jets everyday, watch these practice squad receivers and not make a trade for someone
Shouldn't there be a plan to fill that gaping hole some other way then? If Anderson and Adams were retained that would be two less key holes to be filled next year - how many such needs can one count on being filled in a single year? Is there a good reason Adams should not have a top end contract? Fans need to stop taking contract negotiations personally.
It wasn't too long ago that a bunch of people were saying that about Adam Gase. Don't believe everything you hear.
but what does that tell teh fans that roll with this team. they are throwing away 2 to 3 season. That is wrong you should try to be competitive very yr. Not win but be in games and have talent. This is tough market and to waste 2 or 3 yrs with a crap team after 4 yrs of being bad is not going to be accepted
Cant tell someone that their emotional response to this team is wrong, but it must really suck if you already believe Douglas is a failure. That basically means you think the Jets are boned for the next 2-3 seasons at least, maybe more depending on the clauses in his contract.
He's an IDIOT for not paying Robby and a CRIMINAL for trading away our only All Pro for "more picks". Fire JD and Gase @ the same time.
Say what? ROFLOL How did Gase have a great pedigree? The only things that he had going for him with Peyton Manning's recommendation and he supposedly was an offensive-minded HC candidate. Instead, he just turned out to be offensive.
Worked under Saban,Marriucci,Martz & Fox. Pretty good group of mentors,no? Those guys likely loved him bc hes a grinder, can talk X’s & O’s & has passion. Willing to bet he was very good as a Quality control type. He just isnt a leader,a good player caller or a good HC. Resume isnt everything.Pedigree isnt everything.Unfortunately its the only thing the doofus bros can go off of bc they have no idea what to look for in an interview beyond eye contact & making sure they are prudent enough to bring an extra pen..
I’m not ready to throw JD under the bus yet. I hate saying this, but it’s really hard to evaluate anything when half our squad is injured. The one thing he did this off season was build a line, when they were healthy....they looked decent. No word on Becton is troubling, because that means Sam is exposed. Some players are going to emerge as solid, but it’s just too difficult to evaluate what he did at this point. We start getting players back week 4 and 5, who knows who we’ll lose between now and then. I knew this season was going to be bad, just didn’t know it was going to be this bad. We can’t keep imploding the team though. If we gave McCagnan 4 years, we can give JD 4, at least you can say there’s a method to his madness.
I think Douglas could have done more to bolster the roster for this season, but I'm also inclined to believe that Joe Douglas knows the future does not include Sam or Gase. Douglas' structuring of contracts, trades, etc., show to me at least that Douglas has his eye on next season and 2022.
