I want to know why Mangini runs the Leon Washington/ Cedric Houston combo. I know one is power and one is speedy but by switching them on and off they can't get into a groove. The Jets seem to be more effective at controlling the ball when they have that one RB get the bulk like Barlow did in NE. In that game he carried the load for the Jets and they controlled the ball and were able to play with a lead instead of coming from behind. When we get behind it seems like Mangini is trying to do too much with the 2 backs by switching them on and off so much that it throws off the offense. When the one back is in there too the defense can't focus on which RB is in there and what their strengths are unlike how it is now when Houston comes in to run between the tackles and Washington is the burner.

Maybe I sound stupid but when we have one guy stay at RB and depend on him to carry the bulk, the Jets seem to control the ball a lot better

Honestly, he hasnt used the 2 RB set so much...Houston had over 20 carries in the last two games each I believe.

We don't know what kind of talent we have yet. This is supposed to be an assessment year afterall. This two guys both have different skills. I still don't think Mangini knows who the go to guy is yet. We may very well be going with the Houston/Washington combo again next season.

I'd be very disappointed if we did that. Houston has proven himself to not be able to stay healthy over the long haul to me, and until he proves otherwise, I'd much rather bring someone else in, at the very least as competition. Doesn't have to be a Lynch-type, but someone who should be the starter. Washington can still play on 3rd downs, and if something happened to the starter, which probably would seeing as injuries in the NFL are inevitable, Houston would get another shot.

He's not using a two running back system. Based on this whole year, i dont think Mangini has consistently used any one running scheme

So you think we draft a RB high this year? I was thinking the Houston/Washington combo could work out and I still think they both haven't had enough oppertunity yet. But I see this two on the team next season for sure.

Mangini does not run a 2 back system. Trust me, he'd prefer 1 back. However, we do not have a back worthy of 25+ carries a game. He just isn't here, so you have to use Washington in his strengths and Houston/Barlow in theirs.

As much as I'd like the Houston/ Washington combo to work, I would love to see Marshawn Lynch wearing green.
