While we all gather around and dump on Gase for a piss poor game plan and play calling, lets also be honest about the execution part of it. Sam was absolutely dreadful, his footwork and pre-snap reading poor at best, receivers timing was non existent, Herdon fumble a momentum killer. Sam as our leader showed nothing yesterday. Couple that with a running game predictable as hell, no proper use of our TEs and the offense looked like a bunch of freshman college kids. If that wasn't bad enough, our defense was even worst, completely playing to Josh Allen's strengths, making hideous mistakes at the worst times, giving Josh plenty of cushion on the mid range passes, missed tackles, non existing pass rush from the edge, LB out of position, wide open center field. We made Josh look far better than what he really is.
As an eternal optimist I hate to admit it., but it was quite frankly an all around cluster fuck embarrassment, be it game plan, execution or pride of effort. This fan base deserves a lot more than a couple of bright spots in Becton and Maye. We deserve to see the makings of a winner. Yesterday we saw none of that.

Solid. Especially for a rookie against a big, mobile QB.

Literally just watched this one too. Awesome stuff.

Alex Lewis looking like we should've kept Brian Winters. A shitty pass blocker but Winter's was a nasty run blocker when he wanted to be. Might've been a good player next to the big boy. At least we saved $3 extra million in cap space.

Becton vs Bosa should be fun this week. A good test, at least.

Still missing Mangold. 1 game but I was surprised by how poorly mcgovern, van roten, and Lewis held up

Kinda off topic but those highlights of Mekhi just showed us all once again how bad Sam was. So many plays left on the field and terrible throws way off target. Mekhi is going to be a good one though. I’m very impressed.

I think at a minimum he shook off the criticism that he is "raw", the dude was able to start and effectively play left tackle week 1 against one the league's better defenses. I am not a technical expert at the position but I saw no major flaws in his technique.

Also it seems like he had the best camp of the top 4 tackles taken in this years draft, I know Wills got hurt, but did anyone watch Andrew Thomas or Tristan Wirfs this week? I am curious as to how they fared.

Darnold begining to look like a damn bust. Has a LT protecting his blind side and still looked like crap. No more homerism from me as a fan calling it how I see it because 3 years in and Sam still looks like a ROOKIE out there. Lack of weapons or not Sam looks bad he looks just like Mark Sanchez without the two AFCCG appearances.

Trying to keep away from Darnold in this thread.

As per baldys breakdown. Seeing people on the floor and Becton pushing people to the ground is exciting.

Bosa will be a great challenge next week, however on this performance for a guy that was "raw" he looks more than capeable.

Add in another off season on a NFL training regime and the sky is the limit. As all the drafts said, becton has the highest cieling, but also had the lowest floor.

Becton graded out as the best rookie tackle and 11th best overall per PFF!

LOVE IT! I expect there to remain that big a gulf between Becton and those three for the remainder of their careers.

The real test will be Bosa next week. I expect his week 2 grade to dip but we just need him to look like he belongs as a starting tackle in the NFL at this point.

Sweet. Bud Dupree beat Thomas like a drum all game last night and Brady was under constant pressure on Sunday. Becton got beat a couple times but he looked like he fit in. Just gotta tell the big fella to make sure he doesn't lean and reach. He's too powerful - he doesn't need to.

But Jerry Jeudy had 4 catches for 56 yards on 8 targets.
With a couple of drops on 3rd down.
