Stingiest run defense statistically! The numbers are a bit skewed when you can pass the ball at will on those clowns. They are hardly a special run defense group.
I think Mangini evisions Leon Washington in a Kevin Faulk-type role. A smaller, fast guy who can do a little bit of everything. Sort of like a glorified or 3rd-Down back with a bigger role in the broader offense. With Ced coming up lame again, I think there is no doubt that the Jets will be looking for a full-time runner in the offseason. Ced had a great opportunity this year, but just couldn't stay on the field. Again, coming from Mangini's background, I doubt he has much patience for oft-injured players.
The yardage totals may be skewed, but aren't they giving up a shade under 3 yards-per-carry. The pundits/analysts all pretty much agree that the Vikings have the best run defense.
Ok, throw the the jax game out...Even with those carries against Detroit..hes just not a time mover at this point in his career..up by a touchdown, hes not the type of back that will move chains and run clock. Hey..I said I really like the kid. We shall see.
Not often this late in the season you can plug in a power back with fresh legs. Miami has a good defense but they're on the smaller side and Barlow may be able to get some tough yards inside. I don't think a game like 10 carries, 45 yards and a touchdown or two is all that unlikely.
Pretty much all of that JAX yardage came in garbage time, and Detroit was missing its entire DL (even when healthy, their DL sucks, anyway). Relax.
The one thing that nobody has yet to mention ( as far as I know) is that how durable Leon is. Whilst it was garbage time at Jax he took some hefty hits ,and bounced off them. There was another game (which?? Chicago??) recently where he took some very heavy hits and I thought that he wouldn't get up from them and again he did. His staminer has yet to be called into question though. I'm sure that Houston will play today(hunch)
if its raining, i'd like to see barlow...i only want a healthy houston to play...and hopefully barlow makes good use of his PT...lets do this baby
