I'm not so fussed about the stats particularly, nor his occasional bad interception so much. What worries me more is his in game decisions. Bad decisions with the odd pass here and there I can live with too, but not throwing the ball away and failing to run a play before the 2 minute warning really worry me. I'm British and have never played quarterback, but I'm screaming throw the ball away or run another play before the clock runs down. That doesn't seem to be bad coaching, that's the game and the situation being too big for him. Its not yet terminal, but he shouldn't be doing that in year 3.
This. Darnold is talented, but is he a student of the game? Does he love studying film? I dunno. After this game, it doesn’t seem that way.
At this point he looks no better than Mitchell Trubisky. The Bears didn't exercise his option year if Darnold has a option year the Jets shouldn't exercise it if what I saw from him today becomes the norm for 2020.
my 2020 prediction is that he continues to suck while everyone cries that he has nobody to throw to. He is not the guy, another usc bust.
As much as I like our QB we gave up a lot of assets to move up for him. Touchdown Teddy looked pretty good today. I really hope we made the right call when all is said and done.
Edit: I’ll give you a serious reply here as well. 1. Darnold has 2 years of tape at this point and didn’t show drastic improvement year over year 2. His skill position players (just losing Robby alone) have been downgraded 3. Brand new OL and rookie LT 4. Gase hasn’t proven he can put a solid game plan together as a head coach 5. The schedule More reasons to expect less this season than last, in my opinion.
Quoted for truth. While everyone was posting fake and make believe stats for Darnold, I was thinking long and hard about how I feel heading into his 3rd freaking season. Fk his stats. I want results. Sam did not put up today. He stunk up the joint and still looks like a scared rookie. Playoffs in a Bradyless division or Darnold has got to go. Sorry kid. GL somewhere else while we try our luck with Trevor out of Clemson. No talent around Sam thnx to FO but Sam himself doesn't look talented @ all.
