I don't agree that our passing game is the worse in the NFL. Passing is more than just one WR...it's a team effort: Bell has been one of the top receiving threats out of the back field. Despite his year off and soft production last season, he is still a top 10 threat. Herndon blazed in his true freshman rookie campaign. He was out injured last year, but is back healthy this year. It's not obscene to say Herndon will be in the top half of receiving TEs. Crowder is a top 5 threat (maybe higher) out of the slot. That leaves Perriman and Mims. Perriman has had a pedestrian career dotted with a stellar 'last 5 games' when he was the man. I'd put him at 50/50....middle of the pack. Mims is a rookie, and will make his share of mistakes but will also make his share of eye-popping catches. But, he's still a rookie so again, no better than middle of the pack. So of our 5 main receiving threats, we have Bell top 10, Herndon top 15, Crowder top 5, Mims/Perriman avg. To me, that makes our passing game at least avg, maybe slightly above avg depending on how quickly our new o-line jells. I believe our passing game will start out a bit below avg but grow and get better as our o-line jells and mims/sam figure more and more stuff out. We could end the season with a top half passing game (easily).
probably yes, but he's a guy with a lot of speed and not much WR experience as he was a converted QB in college. It sucks for guys like Smith and Cager who get an opportunity but get injured.
Nope. I understand what he's saying. Think of how many different WRs Brady had in NE during his time there. He was constantly having to adjust to new WRs. He had Gronk and Hernandez, and Moss for a awhile, but his WRs changed from year to year. Sam has Herndon, Griffin, and Crowder back, and he seemed to already be in sync with Perriman. I don't think it's hurting Sam as much as not having topflight target. Hopefully, Herndon will develop into that this season and one or both of Mims and Perriman. Crowder is steady and reliable. It's certainly not anywhere near ideal, but I think Sam having to work to make our WR corps better and throw them open will make him a better QB.
Tom Brady was a developed quarterback. Sam has gone through two years of terrible coaching, bad luck with injuries and a completely depleted roster. There’s almost no comparison in my opinion. You can’t argue that it’s fine that a quarterback entering his third year as a pro has to rely on practice squad players to get open and run accurate routes. If it was that easy for a receiver to be competent, there would be a million good receivers. This is hurting his development without question and it seems like the coach and for some reason, the general manager are both fine with it.
Different day same repetitive shit. I wonder if we will have some WR's Sunday? If not, maybe somebody could run through the fact that the ones we do have are mainly shit or injured, just in case we have forgotten.
Are you more mad that I’m posting the news of the same repetitive shit or that in real life, we have the same repetitive problems that aren’t addressed? One of those is the right answer.
You're overrating Crowder and Bell. But our receiving corps is not really 'good,' when everyone is healthy, but it's not the dumpster fire it's hyped up to be. Three of our top four guys are out right now. Of course it's going to look like dogshit in that scenario. Look at how much the Eagles struggled when DeSean Jackson, Alshon Jeffrey, Algohor and Mack Hollins were all out.
We see this happen every year where one groups gets a rash of injuries. Just hope it clears up before it gets too late.
not gonna matter folks.......this is going to be ugly and with the corona concerns it'll be enhanced ugly.
