I don't understand why we wouldn't get the haul? We still have team control over him for about 3 years (i think, could be wrong by a year or so). And NO WAY would I want to trade Jamal for Yannick. For me, Yannick isn't an elite player compared to Jamal, and he will want more money. Draft Picks (and maybe youngish players who are on rookie deals) only please
What? He’s never had less than 8 sacks in a season. He’s a stud and a premier position and he’s the same age as Adams. Can’t tell if this is a troll post.. @Brook! can you rename this thread so people don’t think that poll is what the conversation is about?
He's got no leverage with any team. What's he gonna do, sit out for 2 years and lose his entire contract? Yeah right! This dude is an absolute nut.
Oh really? Maybe that had to do with a torn groin, just a thought. He had a pick six, a fumble recovery, and a touchdown saving pass deflection in 2 quarters of football.
The Jets can't afford to pay anybody a huge deal right now, particularly an outsider. They have the Darnold negotiations to think about and a terrible past record (before Joe Douglas) in terms of throwing piles of cash at players who then disappointed them. The Jets problem in a nutshell is that they really believe they can turn big names into big profits. Anybody who is coming from that angle in the NFL is going to have a lousy track record in terms of wins, and of course profits follow wins. The NFL has a 53 man roster with 48 eligible on game day for a reason. It takes most of those guys playing 100% to win anything on the field. Paying one or two guys like they are worth 10 times the average player is a formula thought up by losers who then continue to lose as a result. For the guys saying "Jamal Adams - 12 sacks in 3 years yaya, yada, yada" 10 of them came against losing teams with questionable offenses. It is true that half of them came against the Fins, so his heart is in the right place but the Adams sacks came in games the Jets went 4-6 in - against mostly losers. So don't think that Jamal Adams edge rusher has been a world beater because the truth is much more complicated than that.
Adams is going to be a headache the rest of his tenure here unless you pay him now. I’ve been as proAdams as anyone here but enough is enough. The guy clearly doesn’t want to be here anymore and he has Beckham written all over him. He cares so much about what people think about him.. who the fuck cares what some schmuck on twitter thinks. You’re a superstar So you’re saying to let every superstar walk, even home grown. Got it. What’s the difference between paying Adams big money and Yannick aside from the fact Yannick plays a premier position and he isn’t home grown?
There's probably no difference between paying the two of them big money. I'm against paying either of them big money until the Jets have a team where either would be the last piece of the puzzle. Even then I don't think that paying people huge amounts does anything other than hurt your cap and overall competitiveness. If huge salaries were indeed manageable on the cap then Aaron Rodgers and Drew Brees would have dominated a lot more post-seasons than they have since striking it rich.
I just don't like Yannick enough to trade Jamal for him, plus giving him a contract that is better than the one Jamal would want/command. And what kind of message would that send to the locker room as well?
If I’m joe o tell him to shut up and play. He’s has no leverage and he is killing any leverage the team would have in trading him. Either play here or not at all . If he makes waves he hurts his own market.
