I see a lot of people talking about getting a 3rd round comp pick for Maye. The Jets have $64M-ish in cap space next year without any cuts or restructures. They could probably free up another $20M-ish in the blink of an eye. You guys don't see them doing anything in free agency?
It’s not really the style of the GM anymore. Adams will get an extension for sure. Darnold the year after that. We have a number of guys on 1 year deals right now as well.
That money is likely earmarked for Darnold and Adams and keeping the talent that is on the roster in NYC. Douglas certainly isn't going to make any splashy signings that cause problems with the Darnold and Adams negotiations. Nothing happens in a vacuum. When the Jets signed C.J. Mosley to a record-breaking ILB contract they poisoned the future negotiations with Adams beyond repair. Now they'll either pay Adams as the best safety in the NFL or they will move on from him one way or another. Only idiots sign outsiders at the top of the market. That's the definition of a locker-room destroying move.
I'd sooner trade him long before then, a 2nd round comp pick for that quality, now that would be typical Jets.
That'd suck if he refuses to sign here and walks. JD can trade him of course but won't get huge draft capital in addition to the $17+m per that Jamal wants for himself.

They may give us peanuts. It's a safety. Unless they are top talent like Adams they are a dime a dozen. There are 8 decent ones still available in free agency.
He (Maye) has had a lot of instances where he does everything right, gets in nice position and the ball just kind of clunks out of his hands hasn't he. I still hope the Jets keep him though. I'd love to see this one year with Mosley, Williamson, Maye and Adams all healthy with Davis as the swiss army knife guy getting broken in and helping all over the place.
I think if Maye stays healthy this year he will make that leap like Adams did. Maybe even him and Adams representing the Jets in the Pro Bowl as starters
Glad we went 50/50 on that. Kept Maye and dumped Lee. Also glad Gase GM career was very short and we got Douglas in here now. But if Gase runs another soft training camp he will need to go too.
There have been several robberies reported, one of which may be Marcus Maye: If you have any information, please call your local police hotline.
It's true. Or he mistimes his jump and the ball sails over his head or is caught right in front of him. It's a shame because he's always in excellent position. It's a really tough thing to work on too. It's not easily simulated in game situations. The dude is excellent at making sure no one gets behind him even in a more cover 3 single high where he has the two corners deep as well but he's really the centerfielder. He doesn't take big risks which is why the interceptions aren't higher.
Ashtyn in the grass like Kutcher. I legit think hes gonna be amazing with Williams. It was fun with Mayne but time to evolve with our guys.
Maye - not Mayne - IS "one of our guys". He was drafted with the 2nd pick behind Adams...you know, the draft where genius Maccagnan passed over both Mahomes and Watson when we needed a FQB, and instead took the "BPA" Adams.
