How is he in short yardage and goal line situations? I fell like the Jets havent had a reliable move the chains guy since forever.
He’s good at it. That’s exactly they signed him. Short yardage and he doesn’t fumble. Bell hesitates too much in the backfield, sometimes you just need a guy to plunge head first towards the first down marker
A solid, well-respected, former Adam Gase player wants to play for him again? That does not help a lot of these Anti-Gase people's arguments. How could Frank do this to them? Seriously, not a bad move. Montgomery was a disappointment last year. 3rd and 1 Gore running behind Becton sounds good to me!
Absolute waste of an addition to the roster. I'd FAR rather see more reps for a young Josh Adams and Jalin Moore, than a wornout 36 yr old who ran poorly behind a good oline last year in buffalo. This reeks 100% signing of Gase and not Douglas. Gase channeling his past at Miami, which was a failure. It's early in the process, but I believe Douglas could be an excellent GM, his performance so far is trending UP. It's been early for Gase here too, but his performance is trending DOWN. I don't believe he should be here long term, unless he wins 8+ this season and with a difficult schedule, I just don't see that happening. GM needs to be browsing for a new coach, beyond his browsing of players.
If he's really signing for the vet minimum, then he's a walking symbol of love of the game. Folding that presence into the locker room has its benefits. If he's getting anything close to real money, it's a weird move.
Gore needs 1400 yards to pass Walter Peyton. That seems like an impossible amount for a 37 year old but I would enjoy seeing him do it as a Jet even though it pissed me off when he passed Curtis.
I wouldn't read too much into the signing though. He may even be inactive on game days like McCoy was in Kansas City last season. I get the waste of a roster spot argument, but this locker room needs good character guys too and Gore fits that bill. Could help Bell and Perine get a better feel for Gase's offense too.
You'd think that would make the teams not want to copy each other's failures. But maybe being illogical is why the teams keep failing.
What are they doing? Makes no sense. Gore is like 1,000 years old and Bell runs like he's 1,000 years old. A slow, old backfield to go with the Robby-less WR group. Darnold will have to play like Superman to shine with this supporting cast.
Because Bell always seemed to be the type that is looking for a mentor? Gore is an excellent leader, but I think Gase will over-use him (like he did in Miami) at the expense of Bell and the younger backs. I think it will be maddening. Gore for 3 yards Gore for 2 yards Darnold 4 yards to Herndon Punt
