KC has NOTHING but the Chiefs so there will be a huge uproar there especially with his past rep in NY that may drag Herm down. Do not be suprised if with Lamar gone Pedersen is out & away goes Herm. Remember there last CHAMPIONSHIP is one year after ours. I am sure KCC fans are wondering like teams of other teams why Man is doing so well vs Herm with so much less

You should join their board with a big red signature and get the ball rolling, champ. It's a natural fit for you.

Nothing but the Chiefs? Did you not see the contract the Royals handed Gil Meche? That's a sign of intent! Intent to do what exactly, I'm not sure, but intent none the less.

    Devils Advocate:
    Under Herm Edwards

2001: Loss in the AFC Wildcard

2002: 41-0 vs Colts Win AFC Wildcard
    Loss in the Div Playoff

2004: 20-17 Win AFC Wildcard (in San Diego )
Loss in the Div Playoff (Doug Brien)

I do Believe Tangini/Mannenbaum will take us further but let's not put the carriage in front of the Horse.

Let's Get there with them 1st

Yep he underachieved by taking over a team that had missed the playoffs 2 straight years and made it 1 time in 9 years then took them 3 in 4 but we underachieved:rolleyes:

Woody didn't hire herm, Terry Bradway did and Woody hired Bradway on parcells' recommendation. It all worked out quite well for us. no we didn't get as far as we liked but we were one of the better teams in football from '01-'04.

    GREAT POST....

The Jets, their Front Office and Coaching staff all look GREAT now....

Herm and Bradway were complete imbeciles, spare us the playoff squeeks....

Why is NYJunc such a nudge when the going is good..... And meanwhile when 90% of us were witnessing a burning building Junc had to sit here and tell us all how much better it was from the burning buildings of the 80's...

    Thanks Guy....

Stay POSITIVE and move on... Champ knows what it takes... Junc just roots for Green even if Elmer Fud is the freaking HC.

You guys are still too far the other way on Herm though. No matter who you inherited, you still have to coach the team. Ray Handley took over a Super Bowl champion from Parcells and couldn't break 500. Not to mention there's a lot more turnaround from year to year now than there was then. Herm did a decent job here, to write it off as inheriting a good team is making excuses.

Hiring Mangini at 35 was no less of a reach than hiring Herm with no experience, you take your chances. Last time we got a good coach, this time we might have gotten a great coach. We hope so, anyway.

Please do not forget that we backed into the plpayoffs 2 out of the 3 years under Herm. We could have just as easily been 1/5 under Herm.

We never entered the playoffs convincingly except the year we won the division over the Pats tied at 9-7, by virtue of a tiebreaker.

After 16 games you either get in on your record and tiebreakers or you don't. Plus, once you win in the playoffs, as we did 2 of the 3 times, backing in is no longer even an issue.

Remember also that this has been during the Pats run of dominance, so it's not as easy to make the playoffs from the AFC East as it would be from any other division. Making it at all is an accomplishment when the Pats are in your division and there are only two Wild Cards.

The whole "backed into the playoffs" argument is really weak. You either played well enough to make it, or you didn't. What you are really wanting to say is Herm should have been stocking up on lottery tickets due to the amount of luck going his way.

He wasn't a terrible coach, he just wasn't great.

first off that last sentence is true and should b for all jet fans. regardless what you think of a coach or a player you should support them and root for them to do well IF you are a fan. Secondly, Herm did very well here. he improved us from when he took over, he did something no Coach in team history has done by leading us to 3 playoffs in 4 years. I have NEVER said he was a great coach but apprecitae the succes we had w/ him as our HC and Bradway? yeah he sucked, I wonder where we'd be right now if he hadn't extended Chad, reacquired Coles, drafted Cotchery, Baker, signed Kendall and Moore, drafted thomas, Vilma, Rhodes, hobson, Coleman, Nugent, signed Barton, Graham,... But yeah he was horrible too:drunk:

we backed in twice? we won at Oakland in 2001(the first time since we were the TITANS) to get in and the beat up NE and destroyed GB in 2002 to win the division. I don't believe you back in anyway, you either win the games you ned to win to get in or you don't. under Herm we made 3 postseason appearnces, in 40 years before him we made 8. We made it 60% of the time under Herm and 20% under everyone but Herm. which is better? Whether you say we "backed in" or not isn't it better to get there than not get there?

Something tells me the better the contenders do next week, (Cincy, Jax, Denver, and NE), the less likely we'll win against Miami and vice versa.

Maybe Mangini will take away TV privlidges for the weekend. For all his rules, we're close enough to the playoffs now that you know the whole team will be thinking it if not saying it.

What I meant by that was sticking up for them around here when a lot of us could see that Herm was underqualified and not a great COACH... the difference now is astounding.. The difference between a COACH who game plans, makes adjustements and takes advantage of an opponents weaknesses to a "coach" who believe you just line em up and worry about what you can do as a team.. A guy who had to throw everyone under the bus in press conferneces and at the end of the season because, bottom line, he couldn't coach 1 side of the ball and was 100% at the mercy of his coordinators, yet he still insisted on implementing some sort of "Herm" in the defense mixing up what Cotrell was allowed to coach and then making sure the offense was simple.... Just look at KC already... You would never give anyone the benefit of the doubt who said this guy couldn't COACH and you would throw stats at that argument like a simpleton without explanation.. "Just look at the stats" with your fingers in your ears "Lok at the stats Look at the stats Look at the stats"..... Reminds me of a 5 year old.. Eat your freaking stats and talk to us about HERM game planning and COACHING and OUT coaching a flea!!!!!!!

I never NOT rooted for the Jets... But, I knew Herm was an Clown early on... I know "Look at the stats blah blah blah I can't hear you"

And Bradway was and is ok at talent evaluation.. He was HORRIBLE with contracts and making deals with other teams..... Of course he hit on some picks but, the guy ADMITEDLY worked PART TIME... No biggie to Junc, LOOK AT THE STATS Blah blah blah"..... Guy completely blew it on Coles yet, you will sit here and tell us how he got the guy BACK... Whatever.. If he was a forward thinking, Good talent evaluator he would have locked up the Guy his HC called the MVP early and cheaper and not got hoodwinked. Guy actually traded UP for Dewayne Robertson OVERPAID just to get the fans to like him again after the Coles fiasco.. Come on...

ANYWAY.. THINGS ARE FREAKING GREAT NOW... and here you sit picking on Champ bringing up memories and digging this Bull up again, which to some of us was painful as a fan to watch... Herm's clueless sideline looks and his running up and down the sideline asking what to do, looking for Dick...... (Curl), was just an embarrassment...... This guy is almost out of coaching... You must take it personally and will sit here till the end to defend Herm and Bradway, even while the new guys GM and COACH circles around them you'll sit here and say :""Look at the record blah blah blah".... There's a lot more that goes with it.. And what Champ is saying and has always said is that those teams were not on the path to being CHAMPIONS - Talent wise or Coaching wise, they were pretenders who squeeked by and played just well enough to put up some good numbers for Great fans like Junc that al;ways defend and stand by their coaches, well, as long as the stats say so..... Duh.

Some of us know that it takes MORE - MORE coaching (which we apparently have) and a longer term thinking, Full time General manager..... And stats don't tellthe whole story - sometimes you need some depth to your "analysis".

THIS is beautiful what we have going on now and just shows what ~!Morons that last regime was freaking part timer Bradway. Keep defending those Jackals. I swear your last name must be Bradway.
