If he pulls this off and gets a wr (hopefully mims now)then he is a genius. If not hes gonna get grilled. Sent from my VS987 using Tapatalk
I know this seems like it's contradictory, but consider this: 1) Some of the guys we were tied with are gone (Davidson, Pittman Jr, Higgins) 2) This team lacks dpeth at a lot of positions, perhaps the most depleted in the NFL 3) JD and staff take pride in evaluating talent This is what they were paid above market value to do, find ways to improvise and build out a roster. Trading down is how you do that. Mims has great traits, but he is no sure thing right now. Would have been more upset if we did this with Davidson or one of the other guys.
It was a good deal. We get another pick and the guy we would have taken there could be the guy we take on 59 anyway. The best thing about trading down is the uncertainty in making any pick. You can get exactly the guy you wanted on a pick and he can bust for a million different reasons. Taking two guys with that pick is always a safer move as long as you don't move down too far.
Hard to judge this move until we see who Douglas takes with our extra pick. Day 2 is when the real value can be found - let's hope Douglas has some good picks in mind.
I don't think we should've traded back. However, if Denzel Mims is still there with an extra 3rd? Then it's genius.
Yooooo we have THREE 3RD ROUND PICKS! Ray Mickens. Laveranues Coles. Kareem McKenzie. Sione Pouha. Demario Davis. Jordan Jenkins. We can do a lot of damage come the 3rd!
