No worries Champ I have broadcast all good thoughts about Sam and sent out the desire to the Universe that his performance in upcoming season will be a break out year..heheheh Lets worry about contracts later..stay POSITIVE old timer
The title of this thread is 'SamDonald' This after 'Terry Bridgewater' The guy is a troll, absolutely no doubt about it. It took me ages to catch on, because he used to be good at it, but he's overreached a few times now.
He's also much older than most of us, was alive during the Jets SB of 1969. So maybe he doesn't have all of these players names memorized correctly and makes mistake typing but he's not a troll; simply an old-timer and a throwback old-school fan.
There are fans equally as old as him or those that were alive during the Jets Super Bowl that could have a lobotomy and spell Sam Darnold's name correctly. Do trolls look out for other trolls or something?
Oh come on, everything he posts always is the perfect amount of slightly mistaken combined with the perfect amount of outrageous takes. I forget how old he says he is, but we’re talking a guy who is like 70 years old theoretically. Totally unrealistic that this guy isn’t fake. He just needs attention, and the misspelling combined with the drama always get a reply or ten. Come to think of it, this is officially the last time I reply to a Champ thread or post.
Been gone a while, but wanted to chime in to mention that I don’t think this concern is as outlandish as the reaction it’s getting. Funnily enough, I was just talking about this with one of my friends this morning. Rookie seasons are essentially meaningless, and it’s hard to judge Darnold’s 2nd season because of him getting mono at the start of it (no one can truly be sure how much of a lingering effect it had on his entire season). Darnold is represented by Jimmy Sexton, who is known to be aggressive in getting the best deals for his clients. Recent history, and the current salary cap trends, suggest that he will probably ask for a deal that exceeds $30M/year. The Jets are going to have to make that decision based on just 1-2 healthy, non-rookie seasons which is a scary thought, especially considering how much teams tend to drop off after they pay their QB. I love Sam: I think he has all the potential in the world and he’s so young, but he really needs to show something these next couple seasons to make that decision easier (which is why it sucks that Gase will be the head coach for that period).
Does he deserve it? No. If it's the market rate at that time, will he get it? Yes. But who cares. Is it our money? No.
Based on his production and play so far-- no. But we'll have to wait and see how year 3 goes, especially if we draft and/or sign OL. If he looks the same at the end of year 3 that he did at the end of year 2, then they should let him walk, and draft/sign another QB. But fingers crossed that he does in fact end the year looking like he is worth that kind of money!
