I honestly humbly believe the Jets will NOT make a super bowl by 2060. They might win ONE before 2100. Who here could be alive? save this thread and put it in my grave stone I’ll let a mod know my name soon so it can be done by the third gen mods.
My son who is in his late 40s said to me some years back that the NYJs will never win a SB in his life time. Blame the Johnson for that since they own the team
I’m hoping Woody moves or sells the team in the next 10 years or so. I think we are due for a run in the next 5 years. But that doesn’t mean we will make a SB.
This. Ya, a team can catch lightning in a bottle and get to the SB, never to be heard from again. Most recently, the Rams. And the Falcons before that. And the Panthers. They got lucky with a so-so roster, got to the dance, got beat, then went away. As much as I'd love to get there, I'd rather JoeD take an extra yr or two to build a solid franchise from the bottom up that competes year in and year out. I don't want one or two 'splashy FA adds' (Revis, Favre, Bell) that drain our $'s. I want a solid team with really good 2nd team guys and even better starters everywhere on the field. I want JoeD to begin drafting our future powerhouse that refuses to go away. I don't want to throw love to the Bills, but they're the youngest team in the league that will only get better. I want that. I don't wanna luck out and get to the SB once. I want a young talented team that only gets better, and the rings will follow.
I agree, I'd much rather go for sustainability than the big splash. The one thing I disagree on is the Bills. They had a total cupcake schedule this year. Beat one team over .500. Next year I think they are in for a rude awakening unless Allen learns how to throw the ball. But in terms of the way they are building, I agree. Defensively at least. I just don't agree with anything long term offensively other than Singletary.
It's not just throwing the ball that is an issue for Allen. He also gets the yips fairly quickly when under pressure and doesn't make adjustments well. His best plays this year came when the Bills moved him out of the pocket on purpose and forced the defense to come to him. His worst were when he just dropped back and tried to play in the pocket.
I'm in my late 50s and have accepted the fact that I'll never see a Jets Super Bowl appearance let alone a victory in my lifetime.
That's true, especially about the schedules. Same with the jets really. But they have a really good, really young defense. But ya, Allen still sucks!
Everyone is so hung up on schedule here that it's getting ridiculous. The Chiefs beat three teams over .500 and lost to three teams over .500. The Titans beat one team over .500 if you excludes the Texans backups in week 17. It happens. Teams don't routinely best 6-7 winning teams.
Schedule absolutely plays a part, it's undeniable. You can't tell me there's no difference between playing the Niners, Seahawks, Rams, Chiefs compared to their 2019 schedule. Also I think you can draw things from performances against certain teams. Allen was flat out bad against good teams.
he was 'flat out' good against good teams too. they beat Tennessee and Dallas on the road, he was their best offensive player. On the road in Minny last year, it was the same thing he sucked against New England, yeah, but if he sucked against NE, then Darnold was disgustingly terrible in every game he's played against them
Josh Allen against teams .500 or better this year: 55% completion, 191 ypg, 9 TD, 5 INT, 2 rush TD, 3 fumbles lost, 3-5 record.
