I see the maddening propensity for Jet fans to accept and even praise mediocrity has not abated. This ensures the ownership will never make a true effort to win. Sorry to burst your bubble, but the team is terrible in all facets, is wanting at almost every position, has a QB who’s is still a huge question mark, and has a head coach who has no business coaching in this league.

Then how did they manage 7 wins? Surely they should of went 0-16 if all of those things are true (which of course they aren’t)

    Furthermore

Opinions like the OP have been around losing sports teams for years “who finish strong” and they are all proven to be bullshit narratives by the media and franchise to string fans along for “next year”

they were a losing team in 2019 with an easy schedule and there is no real good news from that except maybe Gregg Williams

sorry I love Sam but he did NOT progress under Gase Hole

Could have been worse... we could have been the "Superbowl Bound" Browns.

I really can't with you guys anymore. The whining is ridiculous. I don't know what fantasy football world you live in, but this team is not that bad. Maybe you don't like Gase but this team played hard.

All some of you think is if we're not scoring 40 pts a game and winning, then the offense sucks. How about there was an intentional plan to run more these past few games? It makes sense when you've been rotating lineman all season. Keep dropping darnold back there 40 times and see what happens. If anything in hindsight it's probably the smartest coaching job I've seen in a long time. Darnold is running for his life every single fucking time he drops back.

Injuries killed this team, no coach anywhere is going to stop that, and if anything, Williams, Douglas and Gase definitely showed they have an eye for finding guys who can contribute. Look at some of the names on this roster. Half these guys weren't on it day 1 and yet SOMEHOW this team got better as the season went on.

As sad as it is, this is the third best season in the past 8 years. This team, filled with backups starting, played really hard.

With an improved offensive line and another receiver, the offense will start to look a lot better. This is easily the worst offensive line in my lifetime as a Jets fan. It made the 2005 line look amazing.

you’re just too young and naive

    not to disrespect you

but you’ve just not been through the repetitive lies and bullshit and hope and dread for 45 plus years and you’re young and optimistic and don’t know any better

    god bless you

but I’m not tricked by the way the season ended

    no way, No fucking way

Then you're not looking at what's happening and just living in the past that's your mistake.

Why are you so personally victimized by a football team? Yeah it sucks and it's frustrating but you act like the team has personally targeted your family or something.

    It's so unnecessarily overdramatic.

Honestly this was the worse outcome.
We're ending on a positive note but those early games were as bad as things have been since I've been a fan. Everyone who is being positive and giving Gase props for how the season ended aren't thinking about just how bad it was here in October.

Both of Darnolds seasons started poor and ended with him playing well. No major leap forward but with the mono pretty much gotta throw out the first half of the season. So hard to really analyze his season as a whole.
I just don't know. Darnold def developed some bad habits with Gase and this o line. Legit had times where he was getting pressured felt like he just closed his eyes, said a prayer, and put the ball up.

As for Gase the second Patriots game felt like he went into it thinking there's no way to win not even going to try. Lots of teams lost their QBs this year and were able to compete but Gase got this attitude like he didn't even want to try until Darnold got back.
Not to mention Gase is a jerk. He has players on that he doesn't like and you get the feeling he'd rather lose with players he likes than win by properly using the players he doesn't like.

Is this based on anything or just because he's kind of a dickhead in press conferences to reporters who their is a mutual dislike for?

I have not seen the Stat sheet and i was not able to see the game today, just the highlights.....but tell me Matt Barkley was looking as good/bad as Darnold today moving the ball plus those interceptions smh..!!

Throw the team record and the Injuries aside ....Its sad to say but SD has regressed a bit under Gase

I mean ,,someone show me the evidence how hes gotten better with our Offensive Genius who in todays game bunched 3 receivers all together so they could run into each other causing another interception
