Of course ...he will take them to the Superbowl in 2 years and it will be another one of those Jets "what could have been" storys..
Hope McCarthy gets a job next year and fails miserably so we can stop hearing about how great McCarthy is. Gase may not be the answer but I don’t think McCarthy is either. His star QB hated him, the GB fans hated him and his own organization hated him.
I expect them to either get JG or Rhule. The only way I can see them getting MM is if they clean house and are willing to give MM that much power.
Jason needs to return to the Ivy League and beat up his brother who coaches Lafayette..that would be the smart move lol
My first thought was you meant Marty Mornhinweg. I'm still laughing now at my own idiocy. Sent from my SM-G950F using Tapatalk
I'm not a huge MM fan but the fact Manish Mehta hated him and applauded the Jets as forward thinking for hiring Gase makes it a lock MM will lead someone to the SB again.
even more relevant two months later. 4-12 still seems probable, even with miami still on the schedule. just ask the eagles.....
Sounds like it started from Day One. https://www.cbssports.com/nfl/news/...ship-with-former-packers-coach-mike-mccarthy/
The McCarthy hate started when he named Rodgers the starter because Farve wouldn't commit to the 2008 season in writing. Farve was in the midst of another fake retirement and McCarthy didn't want to wait (though he also wanted to see Rodgers in action before his contract expired). We traded for Farve that year and had Packer fans come over to root for him - and they all swore McCarthy was the worst coach ever for starting Rodgers over Farve. Hindsight shows it was a pretty stupid reason for the fans hating him. Rodgers going his whole career being mad a McCarthy for not drafting him to the 49ers is just stupid. Like, Baker Mayfield stupid. He has all the talent of a star but holds onto a stupid little draft order grudge his whole career. Imagine having to coach a diva like that for 13 seasons.
No, the piece you link to says it was not related to McCarthy going to Green Bay but when he was in San Francisco he preferred someone else over Rodgers in the draft. "Aaron's always had a chip on his shoulder with Mike," Grant told Bleacher Report. "The guy who ended up becoming your coach passed on you when he had a chance. Aaron was upset that Mike passed on him -- that Mike actually verbally said that Alex Smith was a better quarterback." That's not widespread hate, that's an overblown ego.
