Nah. We're going get the 4th pick and Washington's going to take Thomas and we'll end up reaching for Wirfs or another offensive lineman. I can see Miami bypassing Tua for Young and taking one of the other 5 projected first round QB's later
lol it could happen/ washington is a strong candidate to take thomas but then again dan snyder is insane and may want jeudy to pair with mclaurin. they are bad at WR right now and their LT this season has been decent in replacement of williams. IDK if miami will bypass tua. bengals have a high pick and want a QB. all depends who falls in love with who during the draft process. there is still herbert plus burrow is flying up draft boards too. with the jets luck thomas, jeudy, and young will be gone when we pick and we won't be able to trade down so we'll settle for derrick brown as the can't miss DT and BPA. all joking aside though we should be able to trade down if thomas is gone and there are a few good OT prospects like little, adams, and jackson. little may slide a bit due to the knee injury though. I still think OT is the way to go with out 1st pick regardless and there are enough good ones we can play the board. obviously take thomas is he's there, but if not we can slide back and still get a starting LT plus an extra pick we badly need. it's too soon to really do anything draft wise without teams positions and with an ever changing draft board
All the teams that have a shot at number 1 overall seem to play each other this season. Whoever gets it will deserve it. The Jets seem like as good a candidate as any team right now. My only concern is the Jets getting the number one and not finding a partner to trade down with.
if we have the number 1 pick it's guaranteed both miami and cincy will be picking top 5 and want a QB so it should be easy unless they each like a different QB. Looking at the other teams who would be picking top 10 some possibilities for who could draft a QB are Broncos - depends how much they like lock. flacco is likely done there TB - winston is on his final year and likely not resigned Tenn - probably won't pick top 10, but need a QB mariota is the same situation as winston Chi - they are over trusbisky. gonna bench him for daniels. they could look to take a QB or try to make trubisky work since he's still on a rookie deal for 2 more years LAC - won't pick top 10, but may be looking towards life without rivers Some other teams who will pick top 10 but won't take a QB browns - took mayfield 1st overall in 2018 giants - took jones 6th overall in 2019 falcons - matt ryan is still slinging it. they need to fix their D, their offense is fine Redskins - took haskins in the 1st round 2019 right now out of the top 10 teams most likely drafting in the top 10 you have, NYJ, Cincy, Miami, ATL, NYG, Wash, TB, Cle, Den, Chi 2 are guaranteed looking for a QB (miami and Cincy) but miami has several 1st rounders including the steelers and texans. steelers should be picking in the middle of the round and the texans in the 20s so could be too late for a QB. Den, chi and TB are possibles. NYG, NYJ, ATL, Cle, Wash won't want one. it may be better to be sitting at 7-8 ish with 1 1st round QB left on the board and teams like Den, Chi, TB looking to move up for 1.
No reason to trade down. You take the tackle from Georgia or Chase Young. Both players are absolute cornerstones for the next 10 years.
Trade the #1 pick to MIA for a couple of their lower First Rounders (acquired via trade) and then some. With their draft equity, the Fins would be the best potential trading partner for the Jets.
What? There are plenty of reasons to trade down. We are more than just one stud player away. We have a ton of holes. After all the trade ups by Tanny and all the missed picks by Tanny, Idzik, and Mac, we need a LOT of players! If Douglas can trade down and acquire a bundle of picks he absolutely has to do it. Chase Young looks like a great prospect, but he isn't going to help protect Sam or help him develop. The only way Young helps is if we're on a 5+ year rebuilding plan starting in 2020, because if we don't do something to protect Sam and put some more talent around him, we're going to be looking for another starting QB around 2021 or 2022.
We need oline at least 2 starters 2 cbs and pass rushers. This draft is extremely important I believe joe will build oline and d line
We wont win another game Keenum will be back against washington Bengals will have green back who is going to cover him? By the time we play dolphins team will have quit we arent beating Bill's or ravens
Repairing the O-line is of utmost importance for two reasons: 1) Obviously to give Sam time to throw and open holes for Bell 2) To see as quickly as possible if Sam really is the real deal behind a good line. If he's still panicking and making bad decisions while getting time to throw, we'll know that he is the problem and not just the bad line, and we can move on.
Our D line is fine. Don't be ridiculous. We need a complete overhaul of the OL (we need at least 3 new starters for 2020 and 2 more for 2021 and better depth), we need at least 2 WRs, 2 CBs, and Edge Rusher, and unless he pulls his head out of his ass, we will need a replacement for Jamal Adams. Gase and his awful offense need to be gone. Williams needs to be gone. Most, if not all, of the CS needs to be gone, especially Frank Pollack.
How would you like this defense with someone like Nick Bosa on this team? Von Miller? Miles Garrett? Maybe a future Khalil Mack? Young is being touted as a better prospect than Nick Bosa who is an absolute stud. You don't pass on a player like that to trade down to accumulate more picks. You take the sure fire stud. Yes, I get it. The OL is abysmal - it needs to be addressed. That is why I also mentioned Andrew Thomas from Georgia who is being touted as a better prospect than Tunsil - who only fell on draft night because of the gas mask fiasco and was just traded for 2 firsts. You have been in the boat of not trading stud players like Adams for picks because that is someone you build a team around. Well these two guys are also players you build around AND play impact positions. It's a no brainer.
That would make sense, with the hope that JoeD hits on whoever we drafts. Do we know if JoeD brought in his own evaluators/scouts or is he relying on Macs?
f the San fran would of taken Q williams and we had Bosa available do you think that Mac would of draft him?
For those of you who are saying we should pass on Chase Young are crazy. He is Von Miller 2.0 and certaintily a missing piece to the D. Having a strong 3 base linemen without a strong edger rusher is like having a good qb without a good OL. They play off each other. He will absolutely be in play. A lot depends on who is winning..history shows a strong QB class that a QB should probably go 1. Too may games to predict but our 3 options will and should be: 1. Chase Young and draft OL rounds 2-4 and sign FA OL 2. Andrew Thomas and then BPA's 3. Trade down for an OL
I sort of agree but with caveats. I agree we're more than one stud away and in fact more than one draft away Caveats: One: last time we traded down from 1, Saint Louis took Orlando Pace and we got Farrior who had his best years with Pittsburgh. Somewhat similar situation in terms of a team full of holes Two: In principle i am for trading down but ONLY with a plan, and not for the sake of stockpiling. If Joe covets a guy who is expected to slot lower then fine. If it's just more picks, then I'm not fine. That's Macc 2.0 My biggest hope is that JD and his crew have a genuine eye for talent, and a plan
Well and hoping that the plan is a good one and executed well. I think that was the problem with Maccagnan. There wasn't much of a vision for this team beyond just picking who they scouted. Nathan Shepherd and friends included. They took whomever was next on their draft board regardless of the fit with the team or how they'd be used. I'm down with the build the offensive line at all costs. I just struggle watching a talent line Chase Young go by us if he's there. Jeudy too but meh it just seems like we have to pass on him. Free agency will be interesting too. There are a LOT of lineman and good ones due to hit the market. Imagine we sign Scherff to a big deal and Conklin (Titans declined 5th year option) on a redemption deal and draft a center in the second? I could live with another year of healthy Beachum and justify taking Jeudy over the LT. Thomas is the real deal though IMO so it'll be tough.
