With the loss, could we out tank the Dolphins? Trade #1 to a QB wanting team for a haul? If still up high get Young or Thomas?
Well, if Gase is allowed to continue as HC, we're going to need that #1 to draft a new QB because by then Sam will be ruined.
Take the QB. Darnold hasn't shown enough yet and he could be damaged goods after this nightmare of a season. If Darnold is still THE guy well then it's a good problem to have. TAKE THE QB. Just in case.
It's not complicated take a stud left takle....but the same geniuses who wanted Williams and Gase as coach will scream QB or WR
I think at this point, regardless if Darnold is the guy or not, you have to trade down for a windfall of picks. If the offensive line isnt right then it wont matter who our QB is. Tua might be a good prospect but he isnt Luck/Manning prospect caliber, we can afford to pass if we get other areas right.
Bingo. We 100% canNOT afford to miss on another QB with a first round pick. Build the OL and DL and let the QB think sort itself out. Bring in a competent veteran backup if needed. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
If Sam isn’t the guy we’ll be in a high draft position to grab a QB in a few years anyway. need to continue to build around him for now.
I also wanted to add that a not so long time ago we had a good offensive line with rookie Mark Sanchez as the QB and David Clowney and Jerricho Cotchery as our receivers (prior to getting Braylon Edwards in a trade week 5 believe). I believe we started the year 3-1 before the trade. Having a truly good run game and more than 2 seconds to throw makes average QBs look good.
The bengals still have the #1 pick. Whatever pick we end up with we better take a QB and not one from southern california.
Got to give the Cardinals props for walking from Rosen and taking Murray. They might have gotten more value for Rosen if they didn't wait until after they took Murray. Maybe we could get a 1 for Darnold before the draft.
Build around Darnold and give him a chance with a new coach. Put the weapons in place to make him successful and if he's still stinking it up, then draft his replacement, who would theoretically be coming into a much healthier situation. Bringing Darnold's replacement into this shitshow will just cause a repeat performance.
