Per Jason La Canfora "Can confirm ESPN report Giants trade a 3rd and 5th for L. Williams. Jets had been shopping him for weeks. Several GMs I spoke to who need DL help did not like his film or his pricetag. Seems like a steep price to pay, especially for a 2-6 team that has sold off DL in past"
It would hardly be a surprise, the only real surprise is the fact Belicheat didn't take him and turn him into a sack monster and laugh at us some more.
How many sacks will Williams get week 10? Over or under 2 $14.5 million But the Jets are eating $4 million of his $6 mill remaining salary as part of the trade
Maccagnan's drafting was disastrous, and Idzik's was as well. Jets haven't drafted well since Mangini was in the fold (more than 10 years ago)
The Jets definitely need all the draft picks that they can get, but saying that "nobody on the team should be safe" is just wrong. They can't turn over the whole roster. They have players that are worth keeping. Darnold, Adams, Herndon, Crowder, Anderson and Cashman are keepers.
1-6 bro. everyone is, and should, be available for trade depending on the call/offer. including those guys you list
No, just no. Miami is stupid. It's going to take them 5 years at a minimum to rebuild. If you trade Herndon, Crowder and Anderson then Sam is screwed. That would be stupid as well.
At this point, I would be shocked if Robby isn't traded. I would think Jets would accept a 3rd that can escalate to a 2, based on performance/re-signing.
IMO we should trade Adams. He's a good player, but he isn't happy here for obvious reasons. We can get a very big haul for him, and it isn't like losing him is going to cost us a playoff birth or hurt Sam's development/what's left of it. We have tons of holes, and the return for Adams can fill them.
Of all those guys, How many do you think will want to re-sign? Who would you pay and how much? Honestly, outside of Darnold all of those guys are trade bait and sometimes, you have to turn over the roster especially one this bad. We have nothing to lose at this point except perhaps one of the worst HC's in the league.
You can't look at it in a vacuum. You have to think about Sam and his development. You also have to think that if they trade Robby even for a 2nd, they still have to add two WRs for next season, and they also have the OL and CB positions to deal with.
There's a big difference between a Giants 3rd and a 3rd coming from a playoff contender....pretty happy about the return...now do Robby for a 2.
I obviously dont mean they should trade 53 people. Darnold I can see keeping, his potential is worth more than most draft picks teams would offer since he's playing poorly. I probably should have omitted him. However, I wouldnt be opposed to trading anyone else. If Dallas offers a first and third for Adams would you say no? I wouldn't. Herndon, Crowder, Anderson and Cashman could all be traded for the right price. Don't get me wrong, they're good players and I have no problem if the Jets keep them, but if you're offered above market value, I wouldnt consider them keepers.
