Add an indicator for "one of the of the best QBs of all time was under center and had the ability to change plays at the line like he has his whole career".

Who called the Jets CEO to recommend Gase for the job. Payton Manning is an absolute QB junkie and he thought enough about Gase to call the Jets to recommend him.

If your argument is that Payton Manning is one of the great offensive minds in football, why would you ignore his recommendation?

We have a young QB that needs lots of development. Did you trust Mac over Payton Manning? I suspect Rodgers didn't call Johnson and tell him to hire Mike McCarthy.

I'll take issue with this. Nobody credits the 1998 Vikings offensive prowess to the brilliance of Brian Billick, except maybe Brian Billick and his immediate family.
Randall Cunningham, Randy Moss, Cris Carter, Robert Smith, and Gary Anderson deserve and get all the credit here.

What on Earth makes you think Peyton cares about the Jets? Remember what happened in 1997? He was recommending a friend and nothing more.

Payton Manning is a football junkie and clearly cares about the game. He was as professional in the way he went about the game as anyone who ever played. I don't think Payton would pick up the phone to do anything he wasn't paid for or didn't believe in.

I do remember what happened in 1997. Payton stayed in school. Parcels and the Jets abided by the rules on tampering and never indicated they would take him. There were rumors Archie thought Parcells was a QB killer but they were just rumors. The reality is Parcells never indicated he would take him and Payton wanted to stay in school.

I'm sure Peyton loved a guy that he was able to step all over. There's a different between knowing what to do and actually doing it. I know the chords to a lot of songs, doesn't mean I can pick up a guitar and play them in a concert.

Gase isnt afraid of being fired at the end of the season, ESPN reports that several teams would definitely be in the running for him...the top one being the Ramapo Middle School Tigers.

Doomed. We are doomed when we begin to make decisions based on message board chit chat.

Did you read the question? It did not refer to anything this season. It asked about those accomplishments that Gase may have been responsible for in the past. Accomplishments that may have gotten him hired. It had nothing to do with MacCagnan, nothing to do with Douglas.

    -KO situation
    -Jamal Adams mentally checking out
    -Regression of Darnold
-No communication with Gregg Williams (you're coordinator)
-Not being able to counter what defense is doing
-Getting players/coaches based on how well they submit to you (Loggains, Demaryus T, Fales etc.)

Yeah this is definitely what I thought we were getting....hated the hire, then was open to it after a strong preseason, now my hate for the hire is validated

I don't care what Gase's resume looks like.

I care about what he's accomplishing as the head coach of the NY Jets...and so far it ain't much.

We're six games in and we are worse than when the season started.
The excuses are empty. The evidence is in.

We have achieved new levels of ineptitude under his watch.

p.s. Greg Williams is on my shit list too.

Good post although I can't agree with the last line. The levels of ineptitude that can be reached are limitless. These are average levels of Jets ineptitude.

He did. His name is David Fales. He's even been sacked once already.
