There's no more shame in saying you're seeing ghosts than there is slipping into your own lineman on a broken play. But the media makes money by getting attention, and making fun of a Jets QB is as good as any way to do that. Sanchez never bounced back from his blunder, so it's become synonymous with him. We'll see if Darnold will be different.
I'm not going to blame Sanchez's failures on one play. He struggled prior to that unless the defense played great and he had a running game. The eye test tells me Darnold has much more potential that Sanchez. I believe in his mental toughness, just going back to his first ever game throwing a pick six, and how he carries himself during press conferences. I fully expect him to bounce back.
The Jets should pivot the Ghosts comment into something empowering...like a rally cry or call to arms for the team to never revisit such a deplorable performance. ...a moment marking the rise from the ashes... But this is the Jets and they won't.
Pedro was already a hall of fame caliber pitcher when he said that Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
He did after yesterday's game. He's extremely mature for a 22 year old. He seems to have a great mental make up which is key for QB play.
True leader right here. This guy got so much flack for being an asshole for the holdout but i Love that he’s a NYJ.
I've seen these threads denouncing fandom since I started posting here. No need to make a proclamation. Just be smart about it. Play fantasy football. Do some daily fantasy. Watch other games. Bet (minimally + where legal disclaimer) on a couple games. Don't buy jerseys, merchandise or tickets until the product gets better for the Jets. You can still enjoy the game and watch the Jets and enjoy football even when they suck. Invest less into it. We all had higher hopes than we should've but look at the roster. This is a 5-11 grouping of talent. Good to great coaching could steal our way to 7-9. But you'll see a better product when we start turning 4th round picks into starting slot receivers and 6th round picks into starting corners. Until that happens you can't expect much more.
If this was Sam's first game I would agree, but we have seen him play really well in the past. He had a terrible game in Miami where he was shut down for a few weeks after but besides that he has been solid. Belichick and the Pats D got in his head, plus a lack of protection from his o-line made him antsy. That happens in the life of a QB. Hopefully Sam can overcome it. I think he can.
Just because this method works for you, certainly doesn't mean it's a universal code. I'm not knocking the way in which you see things, but I know it's not for me. I'm disgusted. Anyone that is, should voice their displeasure. Good on them even. I'm not about the whole, nothing you can do, might as well take it, approach. Fuck that. Fuck this team.
I agree. His fundamentals, pocket awareness, feet, and accuracy has been on display more times than not. However. A game like that, is sometimes all it takes to ruin a player with potential. This game was about as bad as it could've been for a young QB. He was lost. I mean. Checked the fuck out, I don't know who I am anymore lost. It sometimes only takes one game, one mental break, to implement a plethora of bad habits that people just don't recover from. If I had to bet. I would bet money that Gase will ruin this kid before it's all said and done, if he hasn't already. Writing is on the wall.
The O-line should dress up as Ghostbusters and tell Sam they are taking care of the ghosts. Only problem is the ghosts will blow right by them, hit Sam as he throws, and then another ghost will tip the ball to a Jaguars defender.
Ghosts? GHOSTS??!!! What do you want? .... A goddamn Scooby Snack?? Get out there and throw touchdowns!!
