The Jets are right for fighting this and somehow have to find a way to put a stop to it or else. But let's call a spade a spade the Jets are frickin' stupid for handing out contract extensions or trading for guys like this and Quincy Enunwa. There's something terribly wrong with the Jets evaluation process. They're suckers and they've become the destination for predatory players looking for a handout payday without any real intention of delivering on their end.
Meh, I'm editing my initial tirade at you, I get the shtick and it's just not worth the time to offer other opinions to you.
I think this is more a financial dispute than health issue. Osemele knew he was going to be benched and released after the season. Suddenly the injury became to much to play with. Now he wants the surgery so he can claim his decline in play was injury related and hope to score a bigger payday next year. The Jets are likely looking for an out on the $5-6 mill remaining, so the fine and likely soon to follow suspension will allow them to void his remaining guaranteed money.
I read somewhere that the fine alone gets them out of the rest of the guarantees he gets as a vested vet. He didn’t have any guarantees left in his deal anyway.
It’s bullshit he wants to get the surgery on the jets dime so when he gets cut next yr so he’s 100% healthy in free agency. And now you can’t trust him half assing it and getting sam killed
Both done by the previous asshole GM. Good for the new GM to fight against this Osemele BS. Fine him to death.
Maybe I’m a shitty person but I truly don’t care about this entire thing. It ain’t my money and clearly the injury isn’t severe enough that it could cause long term damage. Just win on Sundays/Mondays/that one Thursday.
If he goes on IR his contract would be guaranteed if I’m not mistaken so he’d have to file grievance to get it, which he already did
Normally I would blame the Jets here but it looks like going on IR and getting surgery guarantees his contract next year otherwise the Jets would likely cut him.
I know he has no guarantees after this season, but it clears close to 6 million guaranteed salary for the reminder of this season if they end up releasing him.
That's fine. You take that approach. The fact you think Q was in it just for the money says everything that needs to be said. You have your opinions and I have mine.
You nailed it with this statement. Sanchez, Fitzmagic, and Mo Wilkerson are a few names that come in mind.
I really hope we know what were doing here....this is the kind of thing that the league strips draft picks on. IF that happens--there's no turning this ship around.
So our free agent lineman that we signed because we didn't draft any linemen is going to get us stripped of the opportunity to draft a lineman going forward. Only the Jets.
