I wish I knew the whole Manson cult story before going in, since I was absolutely confused the whole way through haha. Really enjoyed Leo's acting though. A bunch of scenes in there where I was like, "Man, these feel like Tarantino movie scenes", and then I found out at the credits that it was a Tarantino movie. My bad for going in completely blind.
In the real story they went into the house next door and it didn't go as well for the people who were living in the house.
You didn't know it was a Tarantino movie or that it involved the Manson family before going in? Haha, that is awesome. Wish I could unplug like that. Sounds peaceful.
IT: Chapter 2 was okay. Had some good moments, and some boring moments. Also nearly 3 hours long. Couldn't believe how long it was with so little happening in it.
Saw 2 great films this weekend. Luce and Official Secrets. Luce had some of the best acting you will ever see.
JOKER is an interesting movie. Hard to recommend for everyone, as many people won't like it, due to it being so dark and gritty. Overall, Joaquin Phoenix gives a great and haunting performance. The comic book references are pretty good. More than I expected, but still this is a pure psychological drama with comic book characters, and not a comic book film. Definitely not for kids. I am interested to see how others interpret the ending. I did not love it, but I did like it. I give JOKER a solid B+.
Going to see "Ad Astra" tonite.. Edit: Sat thru this rather bland movie wishing I had went to see Joker. Do yourselves a favor and pass on this one..
Saw Zombieland: Double Tap last night. Really funny movie. Probably the most I laughed in theaters in a long time. Highly recommend it for some relaxing fun. Zoey Deutch is a great addition. She was hilarious. As was the original cast. Go see it!
If you can get past the Billy Madison/Waterboy/Happy Gilmore typecast this might be an interesting departure for Sandler script-wise. I 'bet' he pulls it off. .
I thought it was fantastic. I’ve read a lot of theories about the end but I want to watch it again before I try to interpret it.
Me too. Wifey and I were wondering why directors just can't find a decent ending to a lot of movies these days. The entire movie was more a testament to Brad Pitt's acting ability than the actual storyline.
Nice! Yeah, it is a really well made film. I was actually just thinking about seeing it again this weekend. Unless the filmmakers tell us what actually happened, I guess the ending will be open ended and open to interpretation forever. I normally don't like that in movies, but it fits Joker well.
Quoting myself just to say that I saw and enjoyed Zombieland 2 last weekend. I agree that Zoey Deutch was a great addition, although I thought that Abigail Breslin was pretty bad. I thought the gore was a lot more over the top and didn’t really add anything.
