The team isn't going anywhere but this idea that Sam shouldn't play this year is just.... I can't think of the words. I don't know what this fan base even wants. It should go without saying when Darnold is cleared to play, he plays.
And hopefully he is cleared this week. Today would be nice. Get it over with and prepare knowing your Franchise QB1 is back. Should lift the team.
He didn't play all of last season as a rookie, and is supposed to be our franchise QB. If the Jets bench him because we're 0-4 im offically done with this current team.
You guys saying Sammy should play, I get it. I really do. There’s a chance that he can do something with the worse offensive line I’ve ever seen in my life. The offense comes alive, things start looking up. That would solidify him as the special FQB some of us think he is. Also, equally as likely he comes out there, does his thing and gets hurt, worse still gets a career ending injury. Now we have a shitty team and no FQB. That line is that bad. I’d love to see him come back and light it up, but.....is it worth the risk?
Agreed. It's not like he's an established vet that if he doesn't play the rest of the year it's not a huge deal. He's only a second year player that missed a part of his first season and is still learning. The guy needs to develop even if this team stinks. It seems that people are OK with having a 3rd year "franchise" QB with only 14 games under his belt.
Dear God, Please have Sam Darnold’s spleen return to normal size so I don’t have to subject myself to watching Luke Falk attempt to play football ever again. Yours Truly, Darnasty
Why are you so sold on hoping that they look bad? Because you don't like the Head Coach hire? And don't tell me it's because you know what Gase is. You can point to his past all you'd like but how does that justify your constant hopes of him failing? As a Jets fan, wouldn't you like to properly evaluate a head coach before jumping to the conclusion that "he sucks" and should be fired? What happens if Gase turns out to be a great coach for years to come? Are you then going to flaunt how great the Jets are with him at coach? What exactly is the point in constantly hoping for failure for a team you follow?
Yes I certainly would be as that would mean Sam Darnold is an epic bust. Thankfully I don’t think Sam Darnold will be an epic bust, the opposite in fact and I do think the offense will look completely different.
I agree that the offense will be better with Sam - it almost has to be! - but not better enough. And I fear that Sam will get hurt playing with this OL and Gase as HC.
This is very dramatic and a severe overreaction. I don’t hope he fails. Judging by Gase’s track record as a head coach and offensive coordinator, he’s been bad unless he had a HOF player changing his calls at the line. For some reason, you don’t want me to bring that up and I’m not sure why. It exists, ignoring it means you don’t want to have a conversation, you just want to hear that it’s all going to be ok because... well I don’t know why. False. See: Fisher, Jeff and Goff, Jared.
It is not a dramatic or severe overreaction. It's a simple question to determine why you have a constant drive to prove he sucks and is not a good head coach. And I am not ignoring his past. What I am simply stating is that his past should not be the way you judge the present. You judge him as the Jets head coach while he is the Jets head coach. Pointing out constantly how horrible he is without accurately evaluating the roster or the situation proves that you are just looking for him to fail. That was apparent with your previous comment stating that we should not be surprised if things don't look much different with Darnold at QB. I have chosen to evaluate Gase with a full deck rather than a few cards. And as a Jets fan, I hope to hell he is an amazing coach when Darnold returns.
A little reminder of what we are waiting for And as always, if mahomes makes that same play v Buffalo it still on every plays of the week highlight reel.
I just can't subscribe to this notion that we shouldn't judge how terrible he's been through week 5 when it comes to making decisions based off how terrible he's been the past 4 years. That has nothing to do with talent on the field. Those are character traits of a head coach that you can absolutely trace back for as long as he's been a coach/playcaller/decision-maker. I'm not trying to prove anything. He's laid it out there for everyone to see, it's not like I have to dig too deep for examples.
I was thinking last night as Collinsworth was figuratively blowing Mahomes on that TD pass where he scrambled that it was close to the exact same play Sam made against Buffalo last year to win the game. Funny how that works.
When you reach Mahomes's level, the announcers will blow you. If Sam ever reaches that level, they'll blow him too. And hopefully no mono will be spread.
Well lets see here ...how about Last 36 games? You ask, well his record is13-23 ( oh yea, the marjority were with his players since he was the HC and GM right), Or lts just focus on the last 7 games? Oh, his record is 0-7 and those losses on average were by 17 pts or how about the Or how about 2.5 yards per play in consecutive games OR maybe its that the Jets had an extra week to prepare to play against one of the worst defenses in the league and they were non-competitive. OR the HC states …."We should [be more competitive]l" Jets coach Adam Gase said of the offense. "We haven't been. We haven't been doing anything right, right now. We're playing bad." He selected the coaches, the QB except SAM and has managed this shit show,,,, Unlike Wash, JC will not fire the incompetent coach but should...
Of course it'll get better with Sam back. But he'll still get pummeled and he'll be scrambling around like a headless chicken. This 0 line is a travesty. It's the sole reason we haven't been competitive.
