says who? hes 6 ft, 250. he's better suited than vilma to play ILB thats for sure. hobson is a great tackler and has been able to generate pressure from the outside, so considering hes got about 20 lbs or more on Vilma I would think he could play ILB.

No way, the guy is a brick shithouse this year. He's stout and coming on strong. Way better suited to play ILB than Vilma is, no question about it.

Here are some other "way too small to play ILB" ILBs

    Teddy Bruschi 6'1 247 lbs
    James Farrior 6'1 243 lbs
    Bradie James 6'2 250 lbs

And then there is Victor Hobson 6'0 254 lbs

    Donnie Edwards is 227 pounds...

But he has a huge DLine with Luis Castillo, Jamal Williams(Maybe the best NT in football), and Igor Olshansky...

Factor that he's playing with Shawne Merriman, Shaun Phillip, and Stephen Cooper and he's been very good in a 3-4...

The Jets doesn't nearly have that personnel.

I don't want to trade Vilma. But I will go on record and say Victor Hobson would be a force at ILB in this defense. An absolute force... He was meant to play ILB or MLB.

Vilma is the leader of this defense. This is the first time he has played in the 3-4 D. During the off season, he will only get better, along with the rest of the defense. You just have to give him some time to adjust. Remember, we were suppose to be the worst team in the AFC East this year.

A 250 pound linebacker is small these days... I've heard it all. If that's the case what do we do with puny 230 pound Vilma?

And if you're referring to his height, what does it matter? He's heavier than Barton and Vilma and wouldn't get devoured by blockers as easily as they do. He's BIGGER than both Barton and Vilma.

So now we are debating on whether to trade our lead tackler, and leader to the offense?
    definitley not for a 3rd and 5th.

Vilma is way too small to play MLB. There's so doubt he should be moved outside, but so is Hobson. Sorry but it wouldnt work out. He cant shead blockers, Hobson is good on blitzes or when hes straight on trying to make a tackle. Not when he has to shead a block and make a tackle.

what is this love affair with Vilma.....to date - career stats - 45 games -
    5 total career interceptions, 2.5 career sacks;
and the same "fans" who say Hobson is too small at 6 feet, 250 lbs - outweights Vilma by 20 pounds.

Everyone has Ray Lewis dreams of Vilma...and in a 4-3 his performance would be different. I stand by what i first said, Vilma on the outside, and Hobson on the inside could have unbelievable effects. the responsibilities an MLB has are much different in the 3-4 then the 4-3.

he played two full years in the 4-3; career stats - 5 interceptions, 2.5 sacks; lots of tackles because they ran right at him, and he was wonderful making tackles after 4 and 5 yard gains.

so to renumerate Vilma's career stats, he has played 45 games to date as a professional (and I am using that term loosely) linebacker. He to date in his career has averaged ONE INTERCEPTION every NINE GAMES, and .05 (THATS FREAKING OFF THE CHARTS) ((THATS AN AVERAGE OF ONE EVERY 20 GAMES)), sacks in his career. SUCH A BEAST.

Ya know i love Vilma, and I most definitely do not want to trade him for a 2nd and a 5th rounder, but if he continues to play like this, something may have to be done.

Give him time though, i think he'll be able to figure it out.
