How many years as Jet fans have we gone into the last week of the season in the 9-7, 10-6 range with a chance at making the playoffs? Seems to me 2 out of ever 3 years at least we're sweating through the last game, usually Oakland, while simultaneously waiting for updates around the league to see if we got some help to clinch the wildcard spot.

Don't get me wrong, I still think we have a great shot at making the playoffs and think it may be premature to look foward to future free agents, the draft etc. But would anyone be surprised if Oakland missed a last second field goal giving the game to the Jets and then CBS switches to the Chiefs-Jags where it comes down to needing Herman Edwards to win a game to get the Jets to the playoffs? It's eerie to think about happening because in some ways I feel like I've already lived through it.

Yeah I've been thinking about changing my name since the other guy with two n's (I'm not really sure how the actual Foley spelt his name) usually gets such a bad rap for being real pessimistic when I tend to be more sunshiney. But instead I figure I'll just keep making good posts until everyone can tell the difference.

Im cracking up. You have to change your name. I have seen you post and thought GLENFOLEY was some kind of nutjob with dual personalities.

    Good post.

    Glen Foley,

You need to add a middle initial to your screenname, just like Swedish guitar wizard Yngwie did. He goes by Yngwie J. Malmsteen so he won't be confused with all the other Yngwie Malmsteens in the world.

Nah, this Foley is cool, and he goes to Nova, and he's going to buy me alcohol... I mean he's a good poster.

It's amazing, even with Herm in KC, the amount of Edwards paranoia and discussion on this board is astounding. It's as if he's still a part of us and this team...his ghost is still haunting us.

But it's true, the season might come down to Herm needing to put us in the playoffs.

One question....why do the Bengals and Jags have to lose 2 out of 3 for us to get in? Do we automatically lose the tiebreaker between both teams? I know we do against the Jags, but Bengals too?

This is probably in the wrong place, but whatever

Herm's terrible clock management will end up being our undoing even though he's coaching for another team! I can just see myself staring at the television...the Chiefs down 2 with a minute and a half to go on the Jags 40, and Herm decides to piddle around for 1 minute 20 seconds before forgetting that he's out of timeouts. He is then forced to attempt a 58 yard field goal which the kicker doesn't even have enough time to set up properly for, the kick misses and the Jets miss the playoffs.

We absolutely have to be 10-6 to have a shot at the playoffs. We could still sit home though. The Bills game was the game that a true playoff team wins.

Glen Foley should change his name to JP Machado

    No confusion after that...

Yup, including this year, Herm is 12-16 in December and January regular season games. Not exactly setting the world on fire down the stretch.

But Eric is only 1-1 himself, so I think it's a little more imprortant to see how he finishes before we start roasting ole Hermy again.

Allen..nothing personal buddy..but it amazes me that people are amazed about Jet fans always having Herm on their head.

Its not paranoia Allen. That would imply fear. I think most Jet fans look at it like this.

Herm will somehow choke and help us get a playoff spot.

Herm will get lucky and knock us out of the playoffs.

The only part of Herm that still haunts us has nothing to do with ability.
