That's what I meant about him being aggressive. Mac was just too slow. His plan was moving at a snail's pace and I think the pressure pushed him into the off-season spending spree. With that said, I do think Douglas fucked up already though. CB was an obvious need and when TJ got hurt, Scandrick and Mo were sitting there for the taking for under $5 million combined. Should have signed both but didn't even make an attempt. His former team wasted no time snatching up Scandrick when they had a need due to injury. That could be a costly mistake by Douglas, that 90 %of the fanbase will blame on Mac. As far as Bowles and Kanata, I don't know what to believe. We heard bitching for years that Bowles was the driving force behind Macs picks, then Mac ignored Bowles input, and finally that Bowles never offered any input and just coached what ever Mac threw his way. I don't know what is true regarding that.
No offense, we'll use, insert every option, isnt a plan. Not a vision of the team and in hindsight wasnt close to being true when Idzik and Macc ignored important positions. What were they building? Speed? Youth? A mix? Sheez, anyone can give these cliche answers. Shit I could. I would suck as a GM
I dont think theyre worth that much. Scandrick is 32 and wouldnt add anything IMO while Mo starts the season suspended? And been there done that. Lets see what he may have his eyes on before saying he fucked up for not signing trash Macc made the picks, theyre his, even if Bowles wanted them. Its his job to bring in players believes in. That he scouted. Interviewed, what ever
We'll see if he did screw up. Maybe he plans to swing a trade for a CB or sign one as teams make cuts. My guess with the Bowles/Macc saga is that they just weren't on the same page. A HC and GM need to collaborate on what players they want to acquire. Otherwise the relationship won't work.
Signing Claiborne was a no brainer imo....even with the suspension. Both GM's dropped the ball on that. He'd be super cheap quality depth if nothing else, and we are devoid of depth. We are one injury away from desperation at CB, and desperate teams overspend in trades. That may be the direction we end up heading now.
Who else is looking forward to the day where we are forced to keep so many JAGS on the roster? i.e. Luvu, Langi, Faukausi, Maulet, Hewitt, Qvale, Ryan Griffin, Basham It will take a while but all we need is 2 strong offseason to rehaul a couple of position groups--particularly edge and oline.
I've been preaching patience and 2020 for a while now. I think all this hype with the new RB, CS, FO and Unis got folks gassed up thinking we're one or two players away from the playoffs.
Couldn't agree with you more Cman! We have a strong 3 year nucleus on the team (Darnold, Bell, Crowder, Herndon, Robby, Quincy, Jamal, CJ, Leo etc.). We are fairly young, which is good. But we are missing strength on the edges....perimeter corners, edge rushers and a dominant LT.
Trash that's 10 times better than what we have on the roster. Trash that was signed by winning organizations. Claiborne is a very solid second corner. His struggles came as our 1 with nothing around him.... He's reportedly has his eyes on the Eagles CBs. So trading for or a waiver claim for a scrub who couldn't beat out the "trash" he could have signed.
Joe Douglas was the best signing that the Jets made in the off season. A real GM at last. Be patient and it will pay off.
10 times better than TJ or Poole? No Who cares who signed him. I actually hate that logic. If the Eagles like him he has to be good. for one, who knows why they signed him, money etc comes into play. And the Eagles arent 100%. Never mind their past success was at least partially because of Douglas. Better yet, KC, a winning team, put that trash out, lol We'll see, but the last thing I'm going to cry over losing is either of these two
Bene Benwikere CB cut by Vikings soon to be 28. 5 years in league with 20 plus starts. I could see him getting picked up.
Then Poole and the rest of the scrubs, absolutely. Then TJ, no, but when he's sitting on the bench injured, obviously. You need more than 1 corner, and TJ isn't much when he does play. The Eagles signed him due to injuries and their depth players not being up to starting. Those are the same players everyone is hoping Douglas trades for or signs off waivers. Much more qualified football minds than you feel Scandrick and Claiborne are better than those players. KC signed the trash too though right. (Claiborne) How much of the Eagles success was Douglas responsible for? Honestly I couldn't care less what you cry over. Not crying here, stating a fact. 2 players who are clearly improvements over what we currently have on the roster were available for pennies and he should have pulled the trigger. It was a no brainier. It would in no way keep him from picking up a better player via trade if one came available. Now if nothing materializes, were screwed for the season, and if something does materialize, it's going to cost more.
All teams carry jags. It’s the way a salary cap league works. In 2 off seasons new holes will open up that will probably be plugged with jags because salary cap implications will dictate that as the only affordable option. The hope is the top level players play well enough to mask the jags, the jags play better than the backs of their trading cards and a you get a contribution from a rookie or two. That’s how winning seasons work. This waiting and wishing for a roster with no jags will never come true
Who are the everyones who are looking for JD to sign a discarded 32 year old CB? Name all those minds, more qualified than me that you know for a fact agree with you. Making you, I assume a more qualified mind too. Start with Poole is more valuable than Scandrick. Who was so valuable he started 7 games? Come on, you hit the nail on the head, Scandrick the kind of player no one wants us to sign. The Eagles for a backup to one of their younger players, maybe. Here nope. Theres two weeks until opening day, between cuts and other options lets see what JD failed at before crying over letting Scandrick fall throw the cracks Not who this unqualified fan wants to see here. I dont agree, you right too
I'll start with Howie Roseman,Doug Pederson and Jim Schwartz, then Ill throw in Andy Reid. I know your going through a rough personal time so I'll ignore you trying to twist my words. I would take the opinions of those I listed over yours any day. So go troll someone else and more importantly, sincerely Get better soon. That's from the heart.
All those on the Eagles staff? LOL, you know they all think that Scandrick is better than anyone the Jets. OK. Guess the opinions of all the other 31 teams FO people are agreeing with me? Youre putting the guy who dumped him into the list of those who think highly of him. And didnt start him a year ago too. Come on, thats funny. I've twisted nothing. You just are having a hard time taking my lead of its my opinion. I said I dont agree, you have your right. Twist that meaning Not once have I ever trolled you, move on with this nonsense. I never took you for this kind of poster. And then you bring my health into your inability to take what was written for what its worth? Unreal
How is me saying sign one of the scrubs that can't beat out Scandrick, (one of the Eagles cast offs) the same signing Scandrick? If you haven't read countless posts here and from local media that Douglas will/should trade with the Eagles, your missing out. Reid - Mo. Keep up....
