This isn’t exactly news but I think it’s been made extra apparent between the week 1 preseason game and now trumaine hurt which puts a udfa in as a starter. Joe has obvious work to do right now to clean up Macs mess. This has the makings of an Achilles heel. What do you want joe to do about this? Is trae Wayne’s still available for trade?
Been following Vikings since 2007 and living in MN since 2014. Watch a fair amount of Vikings football. Waynes is a tough player to evaluate. His ceiling says he should be one of the better (not best) in the league but what shows on the field is a marginally more polished buster skrine who may never deliver on his potential. Doesn't seem to have the competitive drive of a high end corner. Not sure you could get a trade done without overpaying.
Hopefully JD can resist the allure of yet another DL in favor of trading down and accumulating more picks. Then again he will likely need to target a T pretty high.
Which i agree with. But this has a chance to torpedo our 2019 season. We’re In a position to compete. I don’t think waiting until 2020 is an option.
its a YUGE problem, biggest on the team, and the prior GM is accountable. i am sure rich kotite has a solution. LOL
seriously......me thinks if our GM position was squared at the end of last season.....we more than likely would have addressed CB much earlier and not be so desperate right now. just about the only way to get competitive NFL talent at the CB position, at this point, will be a trade. Shit we really could have used an extra pick or 2 if we had traded down last draft. Unfortunately teams know we are desperate so we will overpay.
I dunno Turk.. Perhaps waiting for 2020 is the right option as we're not positioned to make a deep playoff run in 2019. We have talent, but its gonna take time for it to gel as we have a lot of new guys that will have to learn a new system in 2019. I think just take whatever record we earn in 2019, make a list of needs and do what we can to fill those needs. 2020 should be the focus, not 2019.
2020 is definitely the year to be focused on, but at the same time I really expect this team to be super competitive in the final 4-5 weeks of the season. Anything less than that is a failure.
You're only as strong as your weakest link. Rest assured there will be at least two CBs brought in before week 1. That being said, don't think for a moment these players will fix the issues.
We are in as good a position for a playoff run as any team not named the chief. Every single team has holes and questions that aren’t going to get answered before the season starts. It’s up to surrounding players and coaches to cover those holes. For us it’s maye and Adams and the front line masking our cb deficiency and Sam and the offense finishing drives and not putting a lot of pressure on whoever will be kicking. Not an impossible task on either side of the ball.
In before someone says they really liked Arthur Maulet coming out of college and they’re glad to see him get the opportunity...
