Tackles. (I only selected LT prospects. Could be more.)

    Walker Little (LT, Stanford)
    Andrew Thomas (LT, Georgia)
    Trey Adams (LT, Washington)

All four are Day 1 worthy prospects, I'd like to think.

    OG

    Tre Smith (LT/G, Tennessee)
    Ben Bredeson (LG, Michigan)
    Logan Stenberg (LG, Kentucky)

Tre Smith seems like a good pick at round 1, but is a major health risk. I wouldn't touch him with a 10 foot pole.

    C

    Tyler Biadasz (C, Wisconsin)
    Jake Hansen (C, Oregon)

  2. Great post. There are others to add but still a good starting point.

If Adams returns to form he deserves to be a top 10 pick. He checks off all the boxes.

Little is a good player but I'm skeptical of him as a top 10 pick much like Jonah Williams this past year. He's well rounded, fundamentally sound w. good size & strength but I don't think he's the type of athlete in terms of agility/bend to justify going too high.

Thomas has all the tools, I just think his thick build & elite level anchor make him a better fit at RT than LT. Are teams ready to admit RT is pretty much just as important/scarce as LT in today's NFL? I wouldn't have any second thoughts taking this guy top 10 to be the long term solution at RT esp w. Darnold's propensity to drift to the right.

I'm really curious to see what happens with Trey Smith. We've seen this blood clot in the lungs thing before w. Antonio Garcia & others...their seems to be a difference in medical opinion on if it can be managed or not. Their might be some new treatment/medication or some specialist somewhere in the country that offers a solution.

Smith is a physical freak w. violent hands, massive wingspan & great fluidity through his hips. But he's a mess fundamentally & he was not asked to be in pass sets for 5 or 7 step drops very much up to this point & he wasn't perfect when they did. If his health concerns are somehow alleviated he's definitely a day 1 pick but not sure he's a day 1 starter. I think he's too tall to play guard & is another guy perfect for Right Tackle

Thanks. I started looking, as once I looked at Jets cap situation next year, I realized maybe it is the perfect timing to get the LT through the draft. (I don't think Jets will be better than 5-11)

BTW, if Gase actually has better season than I expect him to have, then almost none of the LT prospects above will come in Jets' way.

I hope we come out of next year's draft with an OT and C. Our next Brick and Mangold who anchor the OL for the next 5-10 years. Liam Eichenberg is an OT prospect who could be available when we pick in round 1.
    https://thegamehaus.com/best-2020-nfl-draft-prospects-offensive-tackles/2019/06/05/

Eichenberg has played all over the offensive line, but now has done a solid job at left tackle for the Fighting Irish. He stands 6-foot-6 and 308 pounds, making him a solid size for an NFL left tackle. His play hasn’t quite been the stuff of a top tackle yet, but with a good season, he could propel his name into the conversation of the top tackle in the class.

In his first few seasons on campus, Eichenberg filled in along the offensive line at different spots. After Mike McGlinchey graduated in 2017, the Fighting Irish needed a new left tackle. Eichenberg won the job and played solidly for the 2018 season. With a year of experience at left tackle under his belt, he has the potential to play even better for the 2019 season.

It's also supposed to be a deep class for WR's. A few have the potential to be game changing players. I'd hate to pass on them given how long it's been since we had a number 1 WR.

Ideally, our first 3 picks are OT, WR, C, not necessarily in that order.

Corner is a day 1 or 2 pick IMO. Offensive line is a huge priority, that I agree with. Don't be surprised if it's CB over WR.

  6. Calvin Throckmorton Oregon -Highly regarded & CBS sportsline has him as a top 15 pick. 6'5 317 has good feet & lateral quickness.
    https://247sports.com/college/oregon/Article/Oregon-Ducks-football-Calvin-Throckmorton-133268106/

Alaric Jackson Iowa- PFF had him as the highest rated OL in the Big 10 last season as a Sophomore. 6'6 320 Strong & agile. Also relatively new to the game as has only been playing since his JR year of HS.
    https://www.blackheartgoldpants.com...s-until-iowa-hawkeyes-football-alaric-jackson

Prince Tega Wanogho Auburn- Surprised he didn't come out this past season as he looked like a day 2/early day 3 pick to me. 6'7 300. Very productive at college level. Needs to get stronger & learn better technique.

Mekhi Becton Lousville 6'7 369 pounds & very athletic. Being mocked as a 1st rounder.

Ryan Van Demark Uconn 6'6 282. Has started since his freshmen year at guard & just beat out the incumbent Sr. LT Matt Peart who PFF had as highest graded Uconn linemen & is an NFL prospect in his own right. Long,Athletic & versatile.Obviously needs to prove he can handle blind side duty & put on at least 15 lbs of meat.

Jake Curhan Cal Berkely- One of my favorites. Caught my eye facing acouple Edge prospects from last draft. Mean, nasty physical & plenty athletic.6'6 330 Has started 25 straight games at RT. Reminds me ALOT of Jon Runyan.

assuming the QB's play well this year in college, they will occupy several of the top slots in round 1. that should help a team like the jets secure a top tackle at their pick, which should be from 8-13 maybe??

geez not having to go QB is a FUCKING HUGE benefit in any draft for any team.

Oregon OL is this year's Wisconsin meaning will they live up to their pre-season billing or underperform like the Badgers did in 2018. In any event they're going to get a stiff test out of the box Aug. 31 against maybe the best DL in Auburn (Derrick Brown, Nick Coe and Marlon Davidson) - watch who's matched up vs. Brown in particular.

Alaric Jackson, Iowa: check out his teammate, RT Tristan Wirfs - guy's elite and probably going top 10.
Andrew Thomas, UGA: checks all the boxes - would grab him or Wisc. C Tyler Biadasz if available.
Walker Little, Stanford: not yet sold on.
Trey Adams, Wash: season-ending injuries/surgery the past 2 years: ACL surgery in '17, back surgery in '18. Think I might pass (Dee Milliner syndrome).
Tre Smith, Tenn.: looks the part 'package-wise' except for that blood clot issue..
Becton, Louisville (mentioned him in the "supplemental draft" thread). Possible day 2 pick.

The Draft Network already has a 2020 Mock Draft up.

    https://thedraftnetwork.com/articles/way-too-early-2020-nfl-draft-mock-draft

I know it doesn't mean squat, but I find predictions interesting just to see how different sites rate players. I find this one particularly interesting because they have only 2 QBs going in the top 10, only one OL going in the top 10, 3 Alabama players going in the top 10, 1 edge rusher going in the top 10, 3 WRs going in the top 10, and a S and a TE going in the top 10. It doesn't have another OL going until #13 where the Panthers take Walker Little, OT Stanford; and then at #14 the Giants take Andrew Thomas, OL UGA. It has Jake Fromm not going until #15;Tyler Biadasz going at #17 to the Browns; Trey Adams, OT Washington going to the Colts at #20; Tommy Kraemer, OL Notre Dame going at #28 to the Chargers; and no other OL going in the 1st round. I haven't started following prospects yet, but based on how deep and strong the OL class is supposed to be in 2020, I find this very surprising, if not bizarre. It does have 7 WRs going in the 1st round, however.

At any rate, they have the Jets picking #6 and taking a WR, not an LT.

Their first 10 picks are as follows:

    1. Miami - Chase Young, Edge, OSU (Chase is a great name for an edge rusher)
    2. Arizona - Jerry Jeudy, WR, Alabama
    3. Oakland - Tua Tagovailoa, QB, Alabama
    4. Cincinnati - Justin Herbert, QB, Oregon
    5. Buffalo - Laviska Shenault, WR, Colorado
    6. Jets - CeeDee Lamb, WR, Oklahoma
    7. Detroit - Raekwon Davis, DT, Alabama
    8. Washington - Trey Smith, OL, Tennessee
    9. Denver - Grant Delpit, S, LSU
    10. Tennessee - Grant Calcaterra, TE, Oklahoma

    Thoughts?

  10. It's likely fair & accurate based on draft stock at this current moment. The OL class is very strong but somebody needs to step up into elite status.Trey Smith would not be my choice to be the one OL to go top 10 based on performance to date but he likely has the most physical talent. Alot of these guys look more like Right tackles than Left Tackles to me. I don't think that's a bad thing b.c in most years they're even harder to find than Left Tackles..but it remains to be seen if NFL GM's agree OR if these guys prove me wrong & can play blindside.

Additionally, as I mentioned to you recently, Elite WR prospects are significantly more scarce than elite OL prospects. I understand that has not been the case w. OL over the last few years..but generally speaking this is absolutely true.Sure it all starts up front but you better damn well have a player on the boundary you can count on every week for major production esp since the rules now cater to these type of talents. I love Ceedee Lamb for the Jets. He's a route runner first who knows how to get open & make plays. He needs to show more explosion this season which I think he will.

I think the jets can very easily upgrade the OL w.o using a 1st round pick. Doesn't mean it will happen...and I already know you won't be happy..but between FA & the # of quality OL who will likely fall to day 2...I'm very confident on this date on that assessment. I'd be absolutely floored w. say La'el Collins in FA, Lamb in round 1 & back to back OL picks in rounds 2 & 3.

I decided to check out some other draft sites to see where they have OL and WR prospects rated.

    CBS Sports has the following:
2nd - Andrew Thomas, OT, UGA
4th - Jerry Jeudy, WR, Alabama
9th - Trey Adams, OT, Washington
10th - Laviska Shenault, Jr., WR, Colorado
12th - Calvin Throckmorton, OT, Oregon
13th - Cee Dee Lamb, WR, Oklahoma
16th - Jalen Reagor, WR, TCU
19th - Walker Little, OT, Stanford
22nd - Alaric Jackson, OL, Iowa
    24th - Tyler Biadasz, C, Wisconsin
31st - Trey Smith, OL, Tennessee

They also have 4 CBs rated in the top 32 players

    Walter Football:
Charlie Campbell has us drafting 4th and taking Andrew Thomas. He has lots of WRs going in the 1st round and only 4 OL.

    DraftTek.com:
Has us drafting #10 and taking Trey Adams.

In all they have 7 OL and 7 WRs going in the 1st round.
They have the Jets taking Donovan Peoples-Jones, WR, Michigan in the 2nd round, CB Shyheim Carter in the 3rd round, C Jake Hanson, Oregon in the 4th round, RB J.J. Taylor, AZ in the 5th round, RB Lamichal Perine, Florida in the 6th round, and DT Daelin Hayes, Notre Dame in the 7th round..

    Thanks for your response.

I wouldn't necessarily be unhappy taking a WR in the 1st round, and if what they and the other sites say about Lamb is true, then as long as they added an OL or two in FA and then drafted one or two, I'd be fine, if not ecstatic. In fact, if they added La'El Collins in FA, and used their 2nd and 3rd round picks on the OL, and Lamb in the 1st (assuming that all picks turned out to be very good, productive players, I'd be very happy.

I just thought of one caveat. They'd also need to sign at least one quality CB in FA, if not two.

  14. A bunch of Center/interior OL prospects based on Underclassmen who returned to school from last year's Remington Watch list. There are a couple i didn't include b.c they've already been referenced in this thread. Centers are notorious for being late risers so I wouldn't write off any of these guys until the games are played.

    Matt Hennessy Temple
    Jordan Johnson UCF(G/C)
    Zach Shackelford Texas

    Kenny Cooper Georgia Tech
    Sam Tecklenburg Baylor
Adam Holtorf Kansas State(One to keep an eye on- only allowed four total pressures on 354 pass-blocking snaps last season, best in the Big 12)

    Levi Brown- Marshall
Sosaia Mose North Texas (Another to keep an eye on. He & his brother who is also a starting OL are credited for fueling UNT's recent ascension)
    Lee Dufour UAB

    Andrew Poenitsch Ball State
Danny Godlevske Miami(Ohio)(The only Sophomore on 2018 Remington list)
    Nathan Eldridge Arizona

Arizona State Cohl Cabral (High expectations for him in Tempe)
    Nick Harris Washington
    Frederick Mauigoa Wazzou(G/C)

    Donell Stanley South Carolina
    Ryan Crozier Uconn

If this is true then maybe the 2020 draft might be the correct time to take a measured shot at getting Darnold his Julio Jones type star WR to throw to. Then focus on the OL with the next couple pics and/or FA.

Looking back on the last few drafts, we missed out on some quality OL prospects. Orlando Brown, Pat Elflein, and Ali Marpet come to mind. There are others for sure. The OL wouldn't be as big a priority had it been addressed in rounds 2-4 before this year. The focus could've been all or mostly on the WR prospects.

Baring injury, watch the name Solomon Kindley move up the charts. Quinnen Williams knows all about him.

Well that may be true but it is what it is now. At least Darnold is in the fold. OL has to be the priority this offseason as there will be a gaping hole at LT and probably still at C. At this point next year the Jets and Darnold both will have survived ( hopefully ) two straight years - can’t take a chance on a third. I think cap wise the Jets will be somewhere in the middle of the pack - maybe enough for at least one major acquisition along with the usual depth/marginal signings.......OL, CB, WR and perhaps EDGE/OLB should be the top four priorities between FA and the draft.

    Tyler Biadasz (C, Wisconsin)

Is this fellow's last name pronounced 'badass'?

  20. Centers are alot like QBs & safeties. No 2 offer the same playing strengths/eeaknesses or style & its important to have an idea what you want that extra blocker to be good at.

Alot of teams look for guys who are good laterally & agile in space(See Garrett Bradbury) to help w combo’s/double teams but more importantly get into that mike LB’s chest as quickly as possible on running plays.

I think w Sam & what currently ails this OL we need more of a big physical type..not neccesarily a mauler but rather one w a good wide n thick build, good surge out of the blocks & most importantly heavy hands/anchor/short area lateral quickness. In other words stout w good feet. Sam needs a clean A gap above all else to get a good base underneath his feet..same can be said for Bell who needs a bit of a windshield to take advantage of that patience.

Who fits this bill? Ive got an early round guy(if he declares) & a mid rounder.
