So does Bell line up in a 4-5 wide situation with this personnel or will we carry a 5th wideout during the season?
Unless Powell isn't healthy, I see no way on earth that either Cannon or McGuire come even remotely close to beating out Powell.
Carry a 5th Robby Q Crowder Burnett Bellamy (Special Teams Ace). On some passing downs, take out Bellamy and put in Bell.
I am really rooting for Burnett, I hope he doesn't regress come training camp. I am sick of Peake as well, he's been here forever and he does nothing on offense. Hopefully Bellamy is his replacement.
I think Peake will make the team again bc hes very good on ST.Bellamy might be even better but why not both should we keep 6 WRs? Now if some legit WR steps up among the UDDAs or what have you that deserve the roster spot by all means Peake is expendable but i like what Boyer did last season & want to build on it. He mentioned in his PC how important Peake was to the unit..He & Bellamy are a pretty good gunner pairing.
I'm sure Peake is good on ST and all that but if there's one thing we've learned, it's that he's bad at everything else. He's non-existant as a WR. With Q's health issues, Robby's contract status and the fact that Crowder has yet to play game... you have to keep a guy like Burnett around. He's a playmaker. He flashed signs of it. Now maybe you can slide Montgomery over and line him up at WR should one of the starters go down but you can't waste two WR spots on STers unless you're carrying 7 WRs.
Special Teams is important, but players like Peake need to bring more value to this team IMO. Bellamy should replace Peake and we should eventually look for another young receiver with upside. Peake cannot catch. Boyer seems to have the ability to really coach these guys up. Cannon was a gunner as well right?
Im not pounding the table to keep Peake make no mistake.Im just saying that im not releasing the guy until somebody who can be productive as a WR or has good potential earns a roster spot & beats him out. Id rather have Peake who contributes heavily on ST when healthy than some UDFA w no upside who didnt really earn the spot. @101GangGreen101 Cannon did play Gunner last year & did a good job.Boyer seems to like him as a long term special teamer & possibly kick returner.Itd be nice to see him show enough to warrant a package or 2 on gameday in the O ala Brad smith given his break away speed. @BroadwaySam Im quite excited for Deontay Burnett & love him as a sleeper to make a big leap.He better be on the roster & have a role in the offense
Powell may well not be healthy, just as I believe Elijah was not healthy last year. Powell is more seasoned Running back, but Elijah is just as good as a receiver. I love Bilal, hes been awesome for us. I just think Elijah didnt fully recover from his Broken foot surgery, so I wouldnt be surprised to see him make the team. Neck injury is always scary, I dont know how these guys play with any spine issues, especially guys who get tackled often (Rb, Wr, TEs) Either way I hope who ever is playing for us kicks major butt.
McGuire can beat out Powell, either way it will be a good TC battle Cannon will be cut. he is too small for the NFL
Powell beats McGuire easily, there will be no TC battle between the two of them. McGuire will have to fight it out with Cannon who was already a good gunner on ST. Vintage BrowningNagle post here.
