I’ve seen Daniel Jeremiah‘s name bounced around as somebody the Jets are interested in. Who else is out there and who do you think the Jets will looks at? Personally I don’t think we’re gonna name a GM anytime soon. I think that if Gase pulls out a winning year we’ll be able to draw some real talent to the position and if Gase craps out we fire him too and start over the coming offseason.
Joe Douglas from Philly is the front runner by all accounts. Gase and him have a close personal relationship.
Zero chance he goes one and done and we will have a NEW Gm in next few weeks will be the guy from eagles
That does seem like a popular opinion and probably a smart move on the Jets part, so you might as well just forget about it.
The candidate that can say YES SIR, MR. GASE!!!!! The most and with the most feeling gets the job. LOL.
Wasn’t this the way parcels was my way or the highway same as Belichick same way. We haven't had a gm and coach on same page in years let’s see what happens before we scream the sky is falling
Not so sure about that. We cant sit here & say Gase doesnt want to win football games & doesnt want good players in the building. Hes already on record saying being the GM wasnt for him. Im willing to bet that just like w His CS hires hes gonna want whoever brings in the best players that fit his system whom he can co exist with
Douglas has a decent resume for a personnel guy/scouting type, and the early reports are that he doesn't lock himself in his office avoiding human contact watching tape like our previous GM. Douglas spent a long time scouting for Ozzie Newsome during the years where Ozzie was lauded as the best drafting GM in the league. He spent a year setting up a mostly positive draft for the Bears, and has spent the years since in the FO of the Eagles while they went from pretender to SB champs. None of that means he'd be a great GM, but it's a better situation than Idzik and Macc, not that that is saying much. Picking from the tree of successful orgs is better than what we've been doing in recent years.
Douglas and Jeremiah would be a very nice upgrade. Jeremiah obviously has success as a scout but I’ve really become a big fan of his over the last couple of drafts. He’s one of the guys that I make sure I read what he writes and listen to what he has to say. He single handedly got me to stick around and watch the entire draft combine this last go around. They would be welcome additions for sure.
The original reports that came out during the draft said Gase was very frustrated that Mac didn't pursue the free agent centers harder and now its coming to light that he was not overly happy with how Mac spent all that FA money. If these are really the things that spurred Gase's frustrations, sign me up. Its been far too long that we've ignored our O line.
Weren’t reports the opposite? He didn’t want to spend big money on a center? That lines up with his problems in Miami that were reported right around the time he was fired. I don’t remember the exact details but something along the lines of him wanting to spend money on a tight end over offensive line help
The Reports I read (or heard on a pod cast, can't remember now) is that Gase was pissed we didn't push harder for Matt Paradis and had never actually made him an offer. He was saying Mac "couldn't make decisions fast enough" and it was killing the off season.
