I wonder if Jets waited for my GoFundMe thread. Lol. If true, bye bye Macc. Florham Park Starbucks will go out of business once you are fired.
Mac took over the Jets in 2015. They have made the playoffs 0 times. They have a new coach for 2019. He made many free agency moves. They need to succeed. If not, he should be on the hot seat. Not exactly news. However, Mac has had a great off-season and a solid draft. Still have holes at Center, CB, a true #1 WR, and a pass rusher, but you can't fix everything over night. The team was a mess. They are much better now than they were 2 years ago.
Any time you can upgrade, you do it. Got a better QB on the bench? Put him in. Got a better center in the draft? Start him. Got a better GM candidate? Hire him. That’s the real question in my opinion: who fills the void? The Jets would have to be mighty confident that there not only is someone, but also that they’d be willing to take the job, before they fire Mac.
I get why people who might have wanted Mac fired at the start of this offseason are happy to hear he is potentially gone after the draft, but he really did not have a bad offseason. The people who are calling for his head after disagreeing with these draft picks before watching them play a down is stupid. I am disappointed they didnt go center or cornerback late but like really who cares. I'd rather the team draft players who fit their organization not necessarily their needs at positions, that is what FA is for. Most analysts in fact liked our picks. Not to mention there is still UDFA's, June 1st cuts, trades, etc before the final roster is built so its pointless to judge right now. I am much more worried about what the hell is going on behind the scenes should these rumors be valid. This team gave Macagnan a vote of confidence only three months ago and already there is rumors of him being canned. It just makes us look like very poorly run franchise. What kind of a good GM would want to come here if they could be instantly fired because they fall out of favor with Gase (who was terrible with personnel btw)? I don't like Macagnan but lets not act like Gase has done much in his head coaching career either.
I think it's unforgivable to draft a QB at the top of one draft and then patently refuse to address the center position after it proves to be a liability in the guy's rookie year. That said, the Johnson Twins opted to keep the guy for a lame duck year, it would compound the clown show 100 times if they fire him right after the draft.
I agree with that sentiment about not addressing the offensive line last year but at least let the guy have his lame duck year to see if he can turn it around. Maybe Osemele was the key piece they needed and Harrison at center is fine, lets at least see a football game first before criticizing the moves he made or didn't make on paper. Mind you, these rumors about Macs firing came after they drafted Quinnen Williams, the best player in the draft. I don't really care if someone who was thrown out of Miami and had agreed to have personnel decisions stripped from him literally 5 minutes ago takes issue with that.
Isn't this just the media feeding on itself? I just don't see how the team could want him gone and at the same time let him pick players for the team. If it is true, then this is a clusterfuck of monumental proportions.
Eh, these forums are designed for us to criticize and analyze the team. I don't see anything wrong with sharing those opinions, although people need to back up those arguments a little better than some of the Macc haters seem intellectually capable of doing. I have a major concern about standing pat with Harrison based on a 4 game sample of him not shitting himself as badly as the guy he replaced. I would rather see a veteran signal caller on the line who can set the blocking assignments while the young QB can concentrate on learning his job. What we have right now is not putting the QB in the best position to succeed. If he was a veteran, things would be different.
Its pretty much what happened in KC w Dorsey. You let them make picks bc theyve done all the prepwork. Sabotaging the operation would only hamper their own resume & waste alot of hard work
Well, this the Jets we're talking about here. They've found a way to mess things up countless times since Super Bowl III.
Why would anyone think this Ownership would admit to a mistake by firing Macc after extending him. As long as Chris Johnson is the CEO, he's calling the shots no matter what. So do the sensible thing and get used to what you just saw every draft until Macc is gone. Its BPA or the highway.
