The reason these threads keep popping up is because Chad hasn't been consistantly successful this season. Who knows the reason? I believe he is the best option at quarterback for this team though. The offense is built around him. When he plays great the team plays great. This group plays for him and that is important. When Chad plays good, the Jets plays good. When he plays bad, they play bad.
Week 1 would be a good example. But talking about this is stupid, because Chad is not made to do it all himself.
Already happened. allan1 got that covered. Dino merged it into a "small rant" thread, or something along those lines.
screw the pants, I think its the stadium...how many gigantic games have we lost at that shithole. its a dark depressing swampy sespool of ass. as soon as cbs showed the first shot of the stadium I got sick to my stomach. DAMN THAT BUILDING!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Really good teams in this league get around bad performances by their qbs, but the problem is that the jets just can't win if Pennington doesn't play well. He doesn't have to have stellar numbers, but he has to minimize his mistakes. When that doesn't happen, we get pwned. End of story.
Why do you let Chad off the hook ? He played like shit. He was trying to force passes he could not make. Its not 100% his fault put part of it is for sure.
Atleast the Clemens lovers got to see him play today. Poor kid couldn't find anywhere to throw it during clean up time. Bills pass D was great today.
Why are all of you forgetting that this team has been over achieving this entire season? This may be the first time this team didn't respond in a big game situation and I suspect it won't be the last. Relax folks. This team is getting there alot faster than alot of us thought they would. Just try not to let our enthusiasm cloud the reality. We're better than we thought we were, but not as good as we think we should be. Not yet anyways...
the jets will never win with chad at quarterback...he can never make a big play because he just isn't athletic enough...smart guy...great leader...probably make an awesome coach one day...but he isn't blessed with enough football skills to succeed. thats why every time we face a good d he throws more picks than td's or misses open receivers (cotchery on 1st drive and on pick 6). none of these posters are two faced..they are just right all along...he dissapoints every time we need him to succeed, it's not his fault...its ours for trusting him.
take notice to the end of the 3rd quarter when the jets had a 4th and 1...Chad went over to the sideline and walked up to schotty and it looked like he was pissed...im sure if you can replay it in slow motion the convo went something like this: Chad: Yo B...WTF are you doing? Schotty: I'm not sure chad...you want to go for it? *chad walks away* in all seriousness...i think chad was a little pissed off with the play calling, he sure as hell didnt walk over to Schotty to congratulate him for the superb playcalling...someone that taped the game check that out
All I have to say, is that this team wasn't even supposed to get a sniff of the post-season this year, and here we are in the middle of December, still in it. No, Chad did not have a great game today, I admit that. Every QB has bad games, it is justwith this team, when Chad has one it is glaringly evident. There are a few pieces we still need to make this team a legitimate contender, but I don't believe benching Chad will remedy those. The predictions at the beginning of this season, by many, gave the Jets 3-4 wins if not less. 9-7 or 10-6 is a tremendous accomplishment! Another good draft this year, and the sky is the limit. What would you have the Jets do, bench Chad for Clemens? You see what that kind of reactive thinking has done to the Donkeys (err... I mean Broncos). Relax Dude, and stop talking foolish.
The fumble that the Bills promptly took in for 7. And the other one I guess you can count as only costing the team 4 because Nugent made the kick afterwards. But on that last "scramble" at the end of the first half Baker was wide open for a TD but Chad was afraid to throw it.
How about Chad lowering his head and getting that first down? Not sliding, but sacrificing his body to help the team. Nice play by #10 indeed. Play action pass to Coles through 3 defenders for the Jets only TD. Nice play by #10 indeed. Not a completely bad day my friends.
No one is saying that Clemens is going to take us to the promised land. The idea is to build for the future. Chad is NOT our future. It's not reactive thinking to bench Chad. When you watch Chad QB, you hold your breath because there is a good chance it's going to get picked off. He has thrown an average of 3 passes every game that should have been picked off. I would say that he is lucky he only has like 15 interceptions. He is a serviceable 2 string QB at this stage in his career, surely not a QB that we can build a team around to win iin the future.
No, but should people not be allowed to express their negative opinion about Chad? Look, I think he gives the jets the best chance to win and has earned the job with his play this year and his comeback. However, he still has poor arm strength, late delivery, limited mobility, what really concerns me, is that this so called intelligent quarterback against good defenses seems dazed and confused. He throws into double and triple coverage and doesn't see wide open receivers.... Peace out.
lol at anyone who thinks it was the playcalling today. There seemed to be multiple times that the Wrs or Tes were open downfield & Chad was afraid to throw it. I don't think he is injured but I am starting to believe that his shoulder feels differnet every week. He just would not or maybe could not throw the ball downfield today & it resulted in one of the most pathetic QB performances I have ever seen or at least since the Chicago game..
