People here are way to quick in trading Lee for a cup of coffee. I say hold tight and fuck the emotions. Lee plus our third for an early second is great for us and we get our C to go with our pass rusher picked with the number 3 pick.
I kinda have the itch to start a new thread just for the thrill of it See who I can piss off first lol I think I will title it... “Tevin Coleman is still better than Leveon Bell” What do you think? @BroadwaySam
If $3.25 million this year fully guaranteed, 2 additional years at $2 million per, but voidable. Max $7.25 for 3 years is what you call a bundle. Then yeah...
...and a shoddily written article at that. I have an 8th grade education and I can write better than that shit.
You’d need to find a sucker to agree to that trade tho. I’d say Lee’s value is around a 5th round pick as a reclamation project who isn’t under contract beyond this season. If we get offered a 4th, or anything comparable, we should jump on that.
The thing is if we keep him this season, see what he can do, we may likely see his best year as it is a contract year. Even if we don’t want to re-sign him, that still can offer us a compensatory pick next year. I don’t think we should just dump him, but keep him unless we get an offer to good to pass. I don’t know if a 4th and nothing else is an offer too good to pass.
We won’t see a comp pick for him. Literally signing one FA, which we will undoubtedly do, will offset any comp pick. This is the last chance to reclaim any value for him, and his past play doesn’t suggest any better value than a 4th. I think a 4th is actually stretching it, but there’s always a team that will chase after the promise of a former 1st rounder. I’d jump at that.
Well for what it’s worth my original comment wasn’t about your post, it was about everyone else who was taking it as a fact that just because this article suggested a trade for McCoy, it doesn’t mean even in the slightest that it’s on the table.
Comp picks only apply to the signing of other teams free agents, so it is definitely possible to get one for him. Leo may walk next year too, it all depends on drafts and trades. I understand where your head is at but having guy like him in rotation for so little in a contract year has its own value as well. Trading him to an LB needy team in camp or mid season can also improve his value.
I'd be amazed if we didn't sign one or two decent FA's from other teams next season. We'll still have a little cash, and plenty of needs. With Darnold on his rookie contract, it makes sense to bring in as much help as possible. The comp pick hope is a real long shot imo. Interesting point about holding out until camp, or in season though. It's a gamble, but it could lead to a better trade value from a desperate team. Would probably be for a 2020 pick, but that's ok. Imo, the only reason to keep Lee is for depth at a position that tends to see high injury rates. Short of an injury, he'd only see some work in subpackages. And honestly, I wouldn't be too quick to pull either Williamson or Mosley off the field on 3rd downs, as they are both very solid 3 down players. I'd rather take the pick, and look to develop a young ILB for depth. In terms of McCoy, I'm really not interested though unless there is a decent pick included.
I'd be happy with that. I was going back and forth with a Bengals fan on twitter and the guy thought a fair deal was Lee for a 2019 6th and 2020 7th. I almost vomited. They might as well keep him if they can't get better than a 4th.
Exactly. I’d like to see what Lee can do in this new defense . We know he has the speed to cover at least . Anything he’d fetch in a trade wouldn’t be worth the trade imo.
I wouldn’t be upset if they trade him, but I still tend to think the thing to do is keep him at least into camp or first part of the season. Avery Williamson is really a stop gap guy. Decent enough, but he only signed a 3 year deal. That means he’s only on the roster for 2 years from now, and with Lee being so cheap I’d rather keep my options open for now.
why not tell them to give us a 2, for lee and a ( higher/saints) 3rd? kind of like the trade down with the raiders for the guard.
i wouldn't trade away a young cheap player for an old more expensive one. I'd rather keep him or trade him for a draft pick
