Mccoy is a very good player who has needed a change of scenery for a long while. Not sure how it would work in a 3-4 unless he or Leo are gonna move to Nose or Anderson becomes more of a rotational guy..but not a bad problem to have.Mccoy is a good leader in his own right.

Lee is a Bowles guy for sure & he fits what Tampa likes in a linebacker & the teams have a history of making trades w both Revis as well as Keyshawn.

Mccoy & say a 5th rounder for Lee would not be a bad haul..esp w other moves to be made in terms of trading down in draft & potentially landing Lawrence.

For a 5th? I would do it. And draft Josh Allen and you got yourself a scary D to go along with Darnold and Bell. I like it

We trade players, we get their third and give them our fifth

I would love this deal. McCoy has 54.5 sacks in his career and had 6 each of the last two seasons. He's 31, but could give the Jets another year or two of solid play. McCoy would be due $12.5 million next season, but if he didn't play well this season, the Jets could cut him next off season with no dead money hit. If the Jets kept him in 2020, they could make a decision prior to the 2021 season as he would be on the books for $12,932,253 that season.

On running downs, the DL could be Leon, McLendon Shepherd, and on passing downs Leon, McCoy, Anderson. Hopefully, Fatukasi would get some playing time in there as well. Add in one of Allen, Burns or Bosa and either Copland and Jenkins and the Jets could have a pretty devastating pass rush not even counting blitzers.

It would solve the Jets desire to get rid of Lee, and if they can get even a 5th round pick in return it gives them another shot at a WR, RB, TE and returner. Right now, they don't have a 5th round pick.

We don't have a fifth to give them. We gave that to Oakland as part of the Osemele deal.

That would be a steal. A bonus is dumping Lee. It's another black eye for Macc though. Lee, Smith, Hackenberg, Williams are all his high draft picks that have not panned out. If Allen falls to the Jets the defense will be looking pretty good especially in the hands of Greg Williams.

McCoy doesn't fit anywhere on this defense. I'll pass on this deal. He can't play NT, hes not big enough and neither is Leonard. McCoy also very expensive.

Bucs give up a 3, then fine. They have no cap space, so they are in a tight spot.

    Williams?

Also, you can't keep including Smith, he had no injury history in college, that is just pure bad luck, fair enough on Hack but tbh I am not even sure you have a massive point on Lee being a bust, he was starting to fulfil some promise last season, I would have liked to have kept him but the worrying story of his pot and party attitude is the bigger worry than that of his talent.

Give Macagnan credit for upping the ante and the moxie to ask for more right off the bat...something he didn't do when he made the trade for Teddy with New Orleans who were already in a SB hunt and needed Ins if Bree's went down

But TBH who doesn't like this trade ...Lee and Bowles deserve each other..feh

We absolutely fleeced Tampa with the Meshawn and Revis trades.
If we can offload Lee for a 3rd, it would be another great fleecing.

Forget about McCoy though, just do straight draft pick trade (unless they got a Center to shake loose).

We got a third for a back up QB and your still bitching a year later? What a fucking joke.

With Tampa’s cap situation I’m not taking on McCoy and giving Lee unless a third or better is coming back. If not I stay put and away from that contract.

McCoy may not be a fit in a 3-4, but not big enough? He's 6'4" and 300 lbs. I think the situation could be similar to when the Browns took Osweiler off the Broncos hands to give them cap space and got a draft pick in return. We would have to get a draft pick to make it worthwhile. The Jets could keep McCoy for 2019 and if he didn't fit/play well they could release him next offseason with no dead money hit and cap savings of $12.5 million, and if Mac drafted well, they'd have the depth player Mac took with the 5th round pick. If McCoy did somehow work out, they would have their elite pressure guy up the middle and have their edge rusher as well.

I think there is more to Lee that the Jets don't like. Its probably factoring into them not wanted to sign him to a long term big contract. I agree about Smith bad luck for sure. I liked the pick when they drafted him. But when others outside the organization look at it they won't know about Smith injuries.

6'4, 300 at nose tackle in a 3 man front? In comparison, Kris Jenkins was 6-4, 335. McCoy wouldn't be nearly as effective. McCoy is talented, but you are getting him beat up like crazy playing that position.

I think the tales of drugs and beer that some poster on here relayed before the drugs ban can't have been too far from the truth, coming to the end of your rookie deal it isn't good to get a 4 game ban for drug use.

Williams could have been better but he hasn't been a bust, hopefully with some other talent around him he can then come out and deliver the full package next season, here's hoping anyway

Its almost like people forgot the Dwayne Robertson at nose experiment. With our draft class eating up 8-10 mill in space his contract would only leave us 2 to 5 mill in room, Just a flat out no from me.

I'm happy with our defensive lineman right now. Continue to ensure the depth is right.

3-3-5 alignment with Mosley, Lee and Josh Allen? Pretty good linebacker corps. Williamson is meh in coverage but some packages you can throw him in.

    Leo, Anderson and McLendon inside.
