Exactly,,,Fish or Bison with a 20 point blowout. Let the new Coach the new RB and all the new players gain some confidence Wanting the best of the best eg NE or a potential offensive powerhouse Cleveland is ridiculous imo (if I HAD to choose a really good team i would say Pitt because Bell will have a lot to prove) Dont forget... Belli and Brady on their worst day are hard to beat
i agree, plus it is the national sunday night game. the staff has all summer to game plan for it. and, at least we won't get out coached in the second half because our cs can't make adjustments anymore
that is for game 2. gase spends the entire press conference after game 1 answering every question with: " we're onto cincinnati".
The Giants game will be a 1:00 Sunday game as were the previous 13 meetings. I remember reading a long time ago the NFL would never schedule a Jets Giants game prime time. The reasoning was basically alcohol driven .....fans would have too much time to party and get drunk for a night affair as it would get especially rowdy for an all NY game.
I don’t really care if we open at home or on the road, although I don’t want to open in Miami. That time of year the heat is brutal and would be an advantage to the home team. I could deal do Buffalo in their house or ours, or Miami in our house. I wouldn’t mind opening against the Cowboys like we did a dew years back, 2011 I think it was. Revis had the game sealing pick against Dez that game.
has the league ever been to tailgating at orchard park? state and erie county police have their hands full. going to a game there in another teams' gear is an invitation to death or dismemberment. hardly the old war memeorial stadium in the city of buffalo, where the super bowl champion jets took the field to a standing ovation. i was there, in jets gear. no problems whatsoever.
I’ve been to a few games up there in Orchard Park. One year I went in 2010 I sat behind the Jets bench in the rain. No problems but the Bills were so bad it hardly mattered. Yes the Bills fans can be downright rotten though. I read about the 69 game and the standing O. Classy but that was 50 years ago.....people have changed unfortunately .
Rather just play the Pats in Week 1 and get one of the two games over with. Maybe with all of the time over training camp to prepare, they can surprise some people and have it be a competitive game after halftime. Better for the team to get a dose of reality in Week 1 rather than beating a team like Washington or the Bungles and getting some false confidence out of it. Not going to happen, though. With the Pats hosting the Sunday Night opener, the league won't let us anywhere near that. That's going to be either the Browns or the Chiefs. Almost certain that we're going to open up with Miami this year. Might be one of those years that we open and close the season against the same team.
week 1. Arizona Cardinals week 2. Don Bosco week 3. EMCC week 4. 2018 Jets week 5. West Canaan High week 6. 2008 Detroit Lions week 7. New York Giants week 8. Week 1: Kyler Murray throws for 3 touchdowns. 0-1 Week 2: Jets win battle for New Jersey. 1-1 Week 3: Jets win 31-17, TGG expecting Super Bowl run. 2-1 Week 4: Darnold leads the 2018 Jets to a comeback victory. 2-2 Week 5: Jets conclude the high school part of their schedule, TGG still expecting Super Bowl run. 3-2 Week 6: If the Browns can do it, so can the Lions. 3-3 Week 7: Jets lose battle for New Jersey. 3-4 Week 8: Walford takes revenge on the Jets for cutting him. 3-5 Week 9: 1996 Jets win, screw up their draft position. 3-6 Week 10: Future GOAT Danny Etling plays and wins the first game of his illustrious career. 3-7 Week 11: 1989 Cowboys show how the Jets how to tank properly. 4-7 Week 12: Bell raps lyrics to Life's a Gamble, Outlaws run away in horror. 5-7 Week 13: Scoreless until the Jets kick a field goal as time expires. Final score, 30-0 Jets. 6-7 Week 14: Even the Jets can't lose this one. 7-7 Week 15: Gase takes revenge on Miami, sets Jets up to clinch a playoff birth. 8-7 Week 16: Rex Ryan comes out of retirement, beats the Jets to deny them the playoff birth. 8-8
Of course, that was for the greater glory of the AFL over the hated NFL. The same reason I rooted for KC in Super Bowl IV even though they had beaten the Jets in the playoffs three weeks earlier. (I also rooted for them in the AFL Championship Game since I despised the Raiders.)
Wasn't their talk about the Giants being the opponent for NE week 1. If so then I would bet the Jets open at home. I don't see the league having MetLife sit dark week 1 even though I know their are times when the Jets-Giants play on the road the same week.
Bengals or Raiders. Possibly the two easier games of the season. Not a true rival. Opening day everyone is into. Have it against a team we can beat. Would prefer the NFC East and AFC East games in October, November and December. Give us the rivalry games later. Don't like division games early. Prefer them later. Can ruin other teams seasons or vice versa.
Definitive answer is Pats at home, because week 1 is a big equalizer and there's the chance to steal one. However, unlikely in the setting of them being champs. They will want to have them in a juicier national TV matchup, probably from NE.
